    You ask, what happened
how comes the world has changed, without changing
where did your dreams go of making it
    a better place -
so much better than it is right now.

Ah but life took on a life of its own
banked up your fire, chilled you to the bone
filled you up with the lessons you drew
taking you by the hand, and you knew
life is always a little bit more
    than it was planned.

And now you are just standing in awe
    watching yourself change and grow
while the world still turns round and round
no need to rush - Now is always
    a little bit more
than you found just one minute before.

Where did the dreams go - did the wind carry them on
telling you to spread wings on your own
never too wise, never too foolish, never too old, never too young
to be a little bit more than you've even dreamed
making the world better right now.

... because of you the world is a better place !

    Loving you neighbours
    Happy New Year

What's up everyone? It's nice to see the seas are calm. Cool Poem! Well, I came to stir up some trouble but that poem just mellowed me out so I guess I'll stay mellow for awhile.

    Quite rightly....

hehe, While I was in the transfere barracks waiting for my discharge from the Marines me and a couple of other guys actually smoked some banana peel to see how it was. Arrrrrrrrggggggh! Didn't work. Maybe it's because we didn't have any dust to dip it in first.

Oh my God I can't believe I smoked the whole thing!

    Someone talkin' to me? [IMG]

Trystn, just read your New Years post, inspiring.

It's been a good year for me, felt a little lost due to the overwhelming darkness this country seems to be in at the moment, but I discovered this forum in May, and that's shed a little light on things, lotsa like-minded folk out there who are onto the insanity of our "leaders", so I suspect things will change for the better in '06. Not that I don't have a number of like-minded folk near me, but it's good to see that the demographics don't seem to matter, collective common sense is kicking in.

...but, aside from the grave circumstance our wonderful country is in, I've had a blast! Every day is another opportunity to have a good time! I don't know why I spent so much of my life being miserable, working my ass off to achieve something, only to find it didn't take me anywhere. Now I just live for the day, and I use my kids as roll models, they're where it's at!

As far as gettin' by in the long run, what you need is a survival policy, if you have enough friends who have the skills to sustain themselves without the BS our government bestows upon us, you're set.

Anyhow, be well, and don't smoke dem banana peels, they're not good for your health.

    Later,
    Mark

    Hello Beautiful People,

Like Trystyn I feel that this is the year for Love. Love will change my world.

I am going to finally STOP running from it. Expending all that energy trying to stifle it. Wondering if people will understand it. Hoping I won't get stoned, crucified or sacked for it. Trying to keep a foot in both worlds. Trying to pretend I am like everyone else. Hoping it won't leave me hurt and hungry. Lying to myself about myself. Being less than I am. Giving less than I can. Knowing more than I let on. Keeping silent. Betraying my divinity by sinking into despair or inertia or hopelessness.

    Instead... (a big breath)...I will

Stand barefoot in the soft grass
Feel the cool breeze on my skin
    Talk to the trees
    Dance in the moonlight
    Pray to the ocean
    Welcome the sun
Love the next person I see in as many ways as I am able to
Send my best and sweetest blessings out into the world every day
Open my heart repeatedly, determinedly, unceasingly, no matter what
Love my dear self and my good heart
Be a warm and wise soul

    Om Shanti
Peace and Love and Oneness to all

You didnt change the world? People all over the world know what a hippie is (as is shown on this site) ..... There are far more "young hippies" here than old...granted MOST of us are not as active.......
I can walk around barefoot and it is not a HUGE issue.....I can find a ytoga studio anywhere......I can find a health food store anywhere and buy organic.......there are places like pier 1 imports........ummmm lets see.....how about the civil rights movement?? Ya'll helped with that and I would have to say that is a pretty big deal.....just my opinion......it may not happen soon, but I know that something HUGE will happen in my lifetime.

    Right On, Brother Brandonveg...
    Adding a couple:
People can dress and wear their hair any way they damn well please. There are anti-discrimination laws. There are humane societies and animal rescues and activist societies and environmental legislation. There are spiritual and self-development books in every bookstore. Bo-ho is IN (ah, finally...). Star signs are printed in magazines. Demonstrations and peace marches still mean something and have an impact. Some people still remember the term "propaganda". Free love is the norm. Rock music still rules. Some hard core Hari Krishna's are still out there dancing in the streets. Police brutality now gets home video'd and aired on TV. Thousands still gather together to Make Poverty History or to help other souls recover after natural disasters.
Something huge has already happened and we won't give up until the earth is a place of peace and plenty for all. And Yes...in our lifetime!

In trying to help change the world, THIS is what we're up against. I found it when I read our local alternative online news this morning. Apparently they are serious, and they're coming to protest at the memorial service for the miners who died last week here in WV... http://www.godhatesfags.com/main/
Just about as "confused" as you can get!
