This thread is dumb, I admit, but Imma comtinue it. Amish people get a lot of shit from people. If you think about it they're not that bad. I live in a place where there are a few, but not alot of Amish people. They're cool. They don't fight, they don't have guns, they oppose war, they turn the other cheek, they don't judge people, and their God is a loving, excepting God, unlike the God of Pat Robertson, and Jerry Fallwell. Also, some of them grow and smoke some dam good weed. One time I was stranded at a gas station in the middle of nowhere and an Amish dude and his women took me home on their buggy. And it was a pretty long ride. That might sound gay, but if you think about it, its really cool. Amish people are almost like hippies in a way. So I don't like Amish-hating.

I had no issues with the Amish until I tried to rent a U-Hual from one of them on a Monday morning.

If you go to the Amish markets they'll talk to you, but you have to ask the right questions. "Is this beef corn fed?" "Does this bread contain flaxseed?" "How long will this candle burn?"

Then you can work into the more important questions like "Thong?" and "Swallow?"

We don't have Amish people, but we have something kinda simular. Hutterites and/or Dukabors. They settle in large groups, and party like its 1923!

They do have motorized vehicles though... large vans which they use to come into the city and shop at Walmart once a month. One man drives the van and acts as supervisor for the 12 women he is with. They dress the same as the Amish, and don't speak much English... usually the man speaks some English, but the women seem to speak German.

We used to go out to their farm on field trips....cheaper than the Zoo, I guess.

I live near Lancaster Pa... They don't start shit with anyone. Unless you bring up that whole East Coast / West Coast rap thing. Then you might get a glock in your face. But otherwise they'll leave you alone.

I wouldn't mind at least living like the Amish, minus their religion. ;)

At least all I know do. A friend of mine named Marlin is from a amish family and I never knew except for his name was a bit from the norm till I asked him.

    But they are stinky...

Yeah, I agree. It looks nice enough. But I'd start to miss the internet, my study and my music after the first few hours so naw, it's not for me, I guess. Plus with my inverted crosses and stuff and intense hate towards the Abrahamic religions I'd totally clash with them and there would be too much friction.

But still, I think it's pretty cool of them to live so harmoniously.

OH the stories I could tell, I like the Amish, the are friendly and nice. Always happy to lend a hand. Here in Missouri the Amish show up in mass for the blood drives!
They have their own way, and consider us English to be an outsider. I use to work with a gal who was born and raised Amish, then she left! They had a funeral and buried a casket, she is dead to them, and has no contact with her family!

She told me a lot about the Amish, but I personally know they make a wine that will make your toes curl! Good Stuff!

i've never met any. i just wish they were taoists or buddhists or something. i think they have the right idea about a lot of things though. i'd love to live in a world without automobiles, credit cards, cell phones or television, but not without computers, refrigerators, and little narrowgauge railroads in place of cars. there's nothing wrong with doing stuff by hand to meditate or feel connectied to all of existence. i'm not to into the idea of having to though. being selective about tecnology is cool. rejecting it out of hand is just the opposite extreme of expecting it to solve everything, and makes about as little sense as any extreme ever does. buggies are of course a tecnology too. but they require the enslavement of horses or other creatures. and i don't see slavery as good for anything besides sex.
