Hey, those of you that have tried the Knottyboy Tropical Dreadlock Gel...is it worth it? I am going to have to get it or go back to waxing, my stuff's all messy and the ends are straight and un-knotted. *le sigh* everyone says no wax, but it's better than being separeted, etc.

This topic will probably be moved to the Knotty Know-How forum anyway, but in the meantime...How about trying 100% aloe vera gel? It not only will help keep the hairs where you want them and your dreads more dread-like, but it's really good for the hair. And you can just rinse it out whenever you want. In my book, most gels are pretty much the same so maybe try the aloe gel first.

Wait...haha! I just checked out the gel for myself and the first ingredient? 100% aloe vera gel! If I were in this situation, I'd just go for the cheap, pure stuff for $3 instead of spending $12 for essentially the same thing.

yeah, try the gel, don't go to the evil wax, Grrrrrr, there should be answers to your questions in the knotty thread.

You can trim the ends off & keep palmrolling the ends & eventually they will dread up after a few weeks/months depending on hair type

you might want to stay away from the aloe vera gel - there´s probably other stuff in it since it´s not really meant for hair.

go out an get an aloe plant. that thing´ll produce more aloe than you´ll know what to do with. cut off like, one or two of the "arms" (whatever they´re called) of the plant, cut it up into big chucks and blend it up in a blender. put that goo in a sock and squeeze that shit onto your head.

there ya go. 100% pure aloe.

i recently bought the same thing from knottyboy.com and i like it alot. it does tighten more of a short-term amount, but if you are wanting to use it for frizz it is most definatley better than wax. it smells like lime jello, i love it!

I have been using it for about 10 months. It's not bad if you only use a bit, too much can be a sticky, flakey mess. It really helps control frizz and it's washout so that's a bonus.
Although lately I have stopped using it, I've decided not to put anything in my hair.
