Hi, sorry if this has come up before but I'm uber-new & didn't see anything on the 1st page of posts. Hopefully this isn't too out-there for anyone, though just from peeking around I doubt I could say anything that would scare y'all!

Does anyone use cloth pads? I have been using them since my cycles came back after my daughter was born... about 5 years ago. I bought 11 lovely pads in different sizes from a WAHM who is no longer in business.

Well now they're kind of wearing out, and I could really use some more. I've looked around online, but all I see are ones with "soaker pads" that look kind of scary to me. And the ones that look like little more than a washcloth folded over, that look REALLY scary to me. The ones I have look just like a disposable pad, with snaps. Does anyone know someone who makes these? I would LOVE to get in touch with them!

    Thanks so much :)
    love,
    mom

home school mama, I used mismatched tie dye socks ( the mates were lost in the original post dye wash, before we ever sold them...fresh socks) for a few years.
I have one of the snap type but really like good old squares of flannel.

I know that a few lovely ladies in the Fashion & Crafts forum sew good cloth pads. Hipmoon is the only one that comes to mind off the top of my head. Maybe try posting this same question in that forum.

So I have a questions for you all. How effective is the cloth pads. What do they cost? After haveing Skye, I didn't have a period, and I was told that I wouldn't until I was done breastfeeding him, well I've had two now not to far apart from each other nad not to close, they aren't regular either, it's very light and I don't know if they make pads for heavy, or light periods and in fact this is the first time I've heard of them.

I switched over when I heard about them while cloth-diapering my daughter, and it didn't seem that different to me. BTW, I breastfed exclusively for 9 months, and continued to BF until she was about 28 months old. And my cycles started up shortly after I introduced solid foods. The same happened with my son. From the first day I tried them, I was hooked. I don't ever get infections anymore, and just plain feel "cleaner" than I ever did with disposable pads. When I vacation I still use disposables, and I feel just miserable the whole time. If you're considering them, I'd get 2-3 of a few different sizes. That way you will know what size is best for you. Personally, I find it's best to have a few different sizes. Then you don't have to always be wearing a huge one, if you've got a few lighter days.

They seem to average about $3-5 apiece. So far it looks like ebay is the place to find them. I have 9 that are about 5 years old & still okay, but starting to wear out a bit at the seams & are a touch ratty. So I'd say that in my case they've cost me about $.45 per month.. and they're still not worn out, I just really need a few more.
    love,

Honestly? Goodness! Thats amazing! I read you're supposed to change them every couple of months, and those GladRags are $40 for 3! I think I might just design some myself, or buy them off one of the Fashion and Crafts girls...thanks for the information!

I've had mine for almost 10 years (used as back up to a Keeper since 2001)
