theres a girl in my school, who i am kind of friends with. and she is getting dreads. she only has the back bottom done so far, because the person who is doing hers like doesnt have enough time to do them all at once i guess. but hers have a lot of wax in them, and they look like dreads already and shes only had them for a little bit. not long at all. and they look good. and when she gets her whole head, they will look like dreads, cuz the person who is doing them has amazing dreads. but mine, ive had for 7 months almost, and they are starting to lock up pretty good, i mean they look like dreads, but they are soft, and they arent round. i mean u can tell they are still babies, but why do hers look so good for such a short amount of time, when i dont use any wax and mine are looking terrible compared to hers. will mine eventually round out? im patient, like i dont mind if it will take a while, i just wanna know. cuz mine look so funky compared to the few she has, like mine are all floppy, and loose at the tips, and have loops everywhere. i just wanna know if i just keep palmrolling, will they start to look like nice round dreads soon?

The first time I got dreads, I used wax. They looked good for the first day and then they never really locked up right. The dreads came apart. Now that I have them again, I am not using wax or any product other than tea tree oil shampoo. They are dreading a lot faster and staying together. I palmroll mine occasionally and that may help. Each case is different. My advice to you is to enjoy your dreads as they develop. Be accepting of them and you won't be disappointed. Remember, it is the journey that matters, not the destination. Good luck with your dreads.

    Peace & Love

i agree enjoy the journey. when she has is not dreadlocks.... its backcombed hair and wax. as it grows out the roots will dread for her but for ever more thjose bits will be waxy goo.

Yours are getting to the age where they are finally actually becoming dreadlocks and thats great.

    Enjoying it.

and remember dreads are a lifestyle not a hair style :p
