well first off let me say i'm sorry if the question has already been answered..

well unfortunatley i dont have dreads anymore (except for one :)). but i'm still interested: what to do with the stray hair (you know the ones that stick out of your dread). i used to use wax, but with all this talk of wax being bad i'm confused..
a little offtopic: can't wait for ma hair to gro long enough again.. once you go dread you can't go back :)

ummm leave them :p leave them stray and they will sort themselfs out over time.

    Patience is the key :p

However if you dont have patience a small crochet hook comes in hand but be carefull so its makes the dreads look a bit silly if you over do it.

I sewed my loose hairs into my dreads just about a month ago and it worked great. I think I'll start doing this about once or twice a year now.

from my experience, i´ve learned that the more you mess with your dreads, the worse off they´ll be. every thing that i´ve "done" to them has ALWAYS reversed itself somehow and caused more damage than good.

loose hairs WILL dread up if you leave them alone. besides, they give character

I like the way loose hairs look when people have straight non puffy hair. I, on the other hand, have curly puffy hair.. so loose hairs just look gross.

I say leave them...but if you're kinda self conscious about it, you can twist them in your fingers (if there is a chunk of hair that's sort of all over the place) until they wind around themselves...

That usually does the trick...and they will knot up into a dread on their own.

I just leave mine alone but, I know in a year or so I'll have to do something if they haven t dreaded back in cuz, I mean its the hair that broke out of your dread and if it doesn t get back in there somehow, I'd think you would have a pretty thin dread. I like the sewing string thing though. sewing string works wonders in dreads

Yeah those little tiny dreads are great. They just form out of nowhere. If I had a camera I'd post pix of mine.
