downloading

    anyone know of any good mp3 file sharing networks. ive tried kazaa, and its good, but it bogs my comp. down with viruses. and ares doesnt have hardly any songs. any suggestions?

    yeah. use those if all you want is popular music, but if you want the most obscure HARD to find and unreleased stuff in LOTS of specific sub genres, use Soulseek.. that is, if you even know of anything like that... depends on what yer looking for... compared to soulseek, i feel like limewire and kazaa is like shopping for cds at walmart

    limewire works good for me. but lots of ppl have complained about it. sometimes it slows my computer down a bit, but usually works just fine.

    ewww to just about everything mentioned in this thread.

    Torrent is the way to go.

    I've got utorrent, but I heard of one called Azereus, and apparently it works pretty good....

    Ares, quick downloads, no spyware, and has most files I ever look for.

    SOULSEEK - obscure music. www.archives.org - all the live jam band music you need. Bittorrent - good for TV shows

    Bittorrent, most definitely. Best off using ABC for that.

    mininova.org is really good.

    Or if you're not into torrents, Shareza is good.

    Bittorrent is the wave of the future no doubt about it. I can d/l full length movies, full cds, fuck even entire discographys from bands with bittorrents. I use bitlord, but azureus is also a great prog.
