Anyone have any ideas on what else I can make?

Hi all, I'm having a tough time figuring out what else I can make. I need more ideas on like, pendants, or something. If you look in my gallery you'll see what I've made so far, but I've been running out of ideas. I've made like 10 rings already this week and nothing else. Anybody have any help to give? Any thing you would like to see if I can make? Just small stuff, really. For all you people that sew, knit, crochet and stuff you have a huge support group here to help with, maybe it can be the same with other crafts. Peace!

I am guessing by your pics that your medium is wood, right? Those rings would make beautiful dread beads. You could make some longer ones with smaller holes & maybe carve something around them.

 

There might be a cribbage board in that oak tree of yours. Tops and other classic toys would be interesting. Carved pipes are popular.

How much joinery have you done. Jewelry boxes with hand made dovetails.
How about a backyard bench with no metal, joinery only.

Are you looking for something to sell or something thats fun to make?

 

i have no experience in woodworking whatsoever. I have seen and understand dovetail joints, but sadly I don't have workshop. Just basically some handtools and a dremel tool. But I have thought about small boxes. Only they would be one piece for the bottom and another for the top. I just started doing this last weekend. The last time I carved something was a slingshot as a kid, lol! Thanks for the ideas!


PS: I just uploaded a bunch more photos so everyone don't think I'm just here to try and sell shit. They pretty much span a bit of my entire adult life.

 

you could try to make some bracelets, just like rings only on a larger scale. Have you thought about wood burning? I know you can get some reasonably priced tools at Michel's Crafts if you have one in your area.

 

I used to have one a few years ago(burner), but the inspiration never came so I think I gave it to my father....guess I need to give him a call. Bracelets seem like a natural progression from rings. I like the idea of dread beads, like a tube type bead or just slightly fatter than a ring. I've seen them, but never really looked that close. I've seen all kinds of stuff hanging in them, lol! I'm really not into this for money or anything, it just started last weekend when I wanted to make peace sign necklace for me and then made my wife a ring. Then I posted pics of them and some folks apparently like the idea. Mainly I just want to make things that people here would be interested to trade for. I prefer trading instead of money, it gives me something I can cherish that was handmade by someone else with love. It just feels right, is the only way to explain it!
