Can you get your nose pierced with a regular piercing gun?

Your pain sounds like any normal piercing pain to me. It should go away in a few days. You said the chick does it all the time and that just makes it even worse. You see there is no way to sterilize a piercing gun. That leaves such a high risk of infection right there. Plus I suggest you quit using the ear piercing antiseptic because it can actually destroy your healing flesh. You should clean it with an antibacterial soap once a day. Look for a soap that has chloroxylenol or triclosan in it. (I hope I spelled those right) :p I also take zinc and vitaman C to help the healing. It works great. I think your piercing sounds pretty normal to me but I cant really be sure. I would just watch for redness or increased discharge.
Remember dont ever get anything pierced with a gun again.

The thing with the gun is that the studs come in a separate package where it's already in this attachment that you stick onto the gun. So you unwrap this thing, and then stick it on the gun. I dunno, seemed clean to me!

Right but the rest of the gun isn't and when you or anyone else is pierced it will give off a small spray of blood and other body fluids that aren't visible to the eye.

It is impossible to autoclave a piercing gun-and an autoclave is the only reliable way to eliminate germs. Your nose will prolly be okay, but you will have a hell of a time fitting a normal nostril screw into the hole the piercing stud left. I recommend the screws because the 'bone' style studs tend to grow into the skin in the nostril if it is even a little too short-and it HURTS to yank those things out.

If your nose is still really irritated when you clean the piercing once a day with dial or some other antibacterial, try a sea salt soak-check out http;//www.bmezine.com for aftercare instructions. Sea salt gets rid of the microbuggies and is WAAAY more gentle than any soap I have ever used on a piercing.

In the future JUST SAY NO TO GUNS!!!

Well, yeah maybe I am just lucky. All my piercings have healed faster than normal and I have never had any associated pain. So I might be special;)
As far as them putting an earring in your nose...I would assume that the shaft would be pretty much thinner than a nose stud. I have never used anything but a corkscrew ring and those I know definatley are much thicker. The cartiladge in your nostril is much thicker and harder to penetrate than your earlobe. Actually, when I first had my nose stud...it got to where I was sure it was fully healed and I could change the ring...but I went and bought a little hoop that was meant for ears and I put it in my nose. After about a week or so, my hole closed up around the thinner shaft that was the earring and I had to get it redone. I dont really know about the scar thing....but I would think if it worries you that much than just take it out and let it heal up now before it heals to the wound....you know what I mean? Other than that....I just hope you enjoy your new nose ring (or your future one from a tat shop;)) What color stone did you get? Or did you go for just silver or gold?

I've had my nose pierced for three or four years now and mine was done with a gun. I was only young and the piercer said he couldn't use a needle on me in case I cried! Anyway, I've had no problems whatsoever and have worn a ring before, although now i wear studs. Just see how it goes.

the place where i went, they only do it with a gun. they do other stuff with needles but they use a proper gun designed for noses. i asked if they did it any other way, but the chick with the tattoos and piercings said nope. it didnt hurt after either.

i've had mine done for like, a couple of months now and i've had *touch wood* no problems what so ever. clean it with salt water and then tea tree almond oil and its absolutely fine.

i think it very much depends on the place you go to and how well you look after it.

    oh OUCH!!!

I was cooking yesterday and I'm not used to having it there, and my nose was itchy... I accidently ripped it half way out. Man... that hurt!

(ps, there's no backing or screw or anything on mine, just a straight stud, so at least there was no tearing :))

I also have had mine pierced for 3 or 4 years and they used a gun, of course it's going to hurt, you had a metal object shot into your nose. mine hurt when they did it, and it was tender for a couple of weeks, maybe a month. as long as it's not red, and oozing stuff, I'm sure you're fine. Just remember to keep it clean, rotate it, and don't change for at least six weeks, everything should be fine. best of luck to you!

thanks for all the advice everyone :) It's fine now. Almost never hurts. And when it does it's usually because I or one of my gruff guy friends manhandled it lol. I had to change it once because I went to the beach and went swimming. Came out of the water and no longer had a stud in my nose! Luckily I had a spare stud on hand to put in.

I can't get the nose screws to go in for the life of me. I think maybe it's too soon... cuz they just stab the inside of my nose when I try to turn it to slip it in. I'm just going to get those studs with a little ball on the end.

oh good lord no hunny....they use a hollow needle from anywhere from 16 to 10 gauge and push the needle through the nostril....the guns break and shatter tissue causing major probs.

Yea...... stray away from the dreaded gun.... its the worse thing you could possibly get pierced with, it doesnt cut, it doesnt rip, it shoves a dull piece of metal through your skin/cartalage cuasing severe trauma to the area... plus they are highly unsanitary for the fact that they cannot be properly cleaned, meaning they cannot be autoclaved and kill all the bacteria. You better off going and having it done at a parlor where they'll use a needle, or even better yet, if they work with dermal punches thats even better cuz it cuases less stress on the tissue

So here's a quick update... the trouble hadn't ended there. It seems, because I had tried to shove a screw in improperly, I caused an infection and and massive keloid formed and was on my nose for months. I kept going to piercing shops asking what to do and they told me to soak it in salt water and some said to put virgin olive oil on, others said not to, whatever. But I knew it was because of the stud. Not sure if you remember me saying, but I went to the beach that one time and lost the original stud, so had to put a new one in. That new one was no good. I think the metal was very low grade and my skin is sensitive to that. Needless to say, and dissapointedly so, almost every piercer I talked to told me to keep it in and soak and such and it would get better.

Sooo, after it not getting better and me being tired of a puffed up, gross, and painful nose ring, I went into one of the places and just said "Change it." I didn't ask for advice on what I should do. I just picked one and said "please change it, this stud is no good." So they did. Within a day the keloid was half size, within a week it was gone. By two weeks my nose stud is completely normal, looks healthy and only hurts when I play fight stupidly and rip it half way out. OOCH does that hurt!!!

So, guns may be the worst choice, but not always a bad one. It worked for me, thought it took some time.

For Future reference.... Tea Tree Oil reduced keloids... and never use a piercing gun again... not even for your ears.... when it comes putting holes in your body... just pay full price and get it done properly.

I don't care what you're getting pierced, NEVER use a gun. They are illegal in some countries from what I understand and for good reason too.

Yeah, getting it done right is more expensive but this is a hole in YOUR BODY we're talking about.

I'm sure someone already said that but I figured I'd chime in too
