I just listened to the secretary of health servies for the US talk about how it is very possible that bird flu pandemic could hit the US.....He stated "States that do not prepare for thsi pandemic, thinking that if an emergency hits that the federal governent will throw them a life line are sadly mistaken." What I think is funny about that is how The federal government continues to enforce marijuana prohibition even though many states say that it is legal, yet in a time of a true emergency they say that they will not help the states....that is a little one sided Now I do realize that it IS very imp[ortant for the states to have proper planning in case this pandemic does affect us, and that the government has already given some states a little money for it....but damn......it's just his words that i quoted...that is very one sided. States Rights bitch.
It's all about fear-mongering and expanding government power. The Avian Flu poses no major threat to most people, let alone in the west, as it has not mutated into a person-to-person disease. The only way it can be contracted by humans is if they come into contact with an infected bird. The company that makes Tamiflu, Gilead, is making record profits on this hoax. And guess who one of the major shareholders in this company is? None other than Donald Rumsfeld, who was that company's chairman from 1997 until the time he joined the Bush regime in 2001. Bush said shortly after Hurricane Katrina, that in the future he plans on having the military play an "increasing role" in responding to national emergencies, which would even include quarantining vast portions of the U.S. in the case of a "biological threat." While I am certain that this bird flu scare is 99% fear-mongering, it sets the precedent for what will take place once we do see an epidemic in this country. An epidemic in which THEY create. It's all about problem-reaction-solution and the manipulation of the human mind through fear.
