This is a simple extraction that I got from erowid.com . The supplies needed can be bought in most hardward stores or online and none are watched or anything. Please do not attempt if you already don't know what an A/B extraction is.

There are even better methods out there, the work of nanook and his fellows had many different ways to go about it.

    A few questions..

Instead of xylene can I use naptha?

Instead of sodium hydroxide can I use sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) to basify? I assume it would take a lot.

xylene is a better defatting agent than naptha, and use ammonia rather than Na2CO3

I've run across a different recipe where the guy says defatting is not necessary:

    http://www.drugs-forum.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=3797

Does fat suspended in the xylol inhibit the alkaloid extraction?

Does the fat somehow come out in the end product? -If using citirc acid in water solution mixed with and separated from the xylol, the fats should stay in the xylol (not mixed with H2O).

    So, why is defatting recommended?

    Also, why is ammonia preferred?
