So I was talking to my boss today (he's a nutritional consultant among other health related things...), and he was telling me about blood types and how certain blood types are better for being a vegetarian. He was telling me how type O blood types (which apparently make up about 88% of people) are really bad for being vegetarian and that they really need meat protein, but that type A, B, and AB are all pretty good for not eating meat.

I was just wondering if anyone else had heard anything about this. I wanted to dismiss it as meat-eater-talk but because he's a doctor it threw me a little.

Is anyone in here a type O who doesn't eat meat?

I herd the same thing from my boss, shes a vegetarian but for health not for the animals.....When i first made the switch she said something about betting I was a Type O and that I should still eat a little bit of meat.....I laughed and never thought of it again intill you mentioned something....blah blah blah is all I have to say about it though....and I am a type O and I have been vegan now for a few months, a veghead for a year before that and I have never felt better.

    Never heard of that before!
    I'm a type O. I have been vegan for 14 years + vegetarian 5 years before that.
I'm in absolute great physical health!

I've heard that, but don't buy it eithier.
After all what could possibly be in meat that we can't get from plants?
(well apart from cholesterol and other crap)

I've read about blood group diets, and apparently your blood group has as much to do with diet as eye colour.
No idea what my blood group is; but my eyes are green, and plants are green. So that's my justification sorted. :)

I've heard the type o thing too, but I'm a type O and I've never had a problem eating veggie, I always feel my best when I do. I don't really buy that theory either.

The book "Eat right 4 your type" by Peter D'adamo (sp) details all the theories behind blood type diets. It certainly is interesting, but you do have to allow for individuality.

Um, my eyes are blue. I guess water is all I can have? Dang. I want brown eyes and chocolate! Yeah this makes as much sense as basing your diet on blood type.
