Hello people down there! I'm planning on going down to Australia from Britain for about 6 months in about september/october 06, and I was wondering if anybody could offer me any advice?

I'll probably be going to Melbourne first as I have a lot of family over there that I will probably visit for a while. After I'm done with that though I wan't to get across Australia. I'm not really all that bothered about seeing the cities, it's the outback that I want to get to know! A friend of mine who lived in Byron Bay for a while and travelled much of Australia with the Rainbow Family Gatherings has sugested that's the place I ought to head to. I basically just want to travel the gatherings in my time there and maybe meet with the Abo's if possible.

I'm a Shamanic and Creative Arts Therapist and a woodcraftsman so I'm helping those skills will earn me what ever money I need. I'm also experienced in the setting up and running gatherings as well as teaching at them so hopefully that help me earn my keep on the rainbow gatherings.

Any advice from you guys would be really really apreciated.

    Much love and peace,

    Fagin!

Oh sorry, didn't mean to offend. That's just how I've heard other Australians reffer to them. I shan't do it again, especially not when I'm in Australia.

yeah steer clear...it bsacially on the same level with the n-word. Some indegenous aussies prefer 'koorie' and others refuse that word. Its really hard and kind of the same as America...but I actually like native australians the best.

...hey if you'll be in Melbourne I suggest checking out the Grampians and also the Vic Alpine region, specifically the Wabonga Plateau and Paradise Falls area. The are some awesome climbing areas too and Mt Townsend has some great stuff.

...and get to the ocean as much as possible...these are beautiful shores :sunglasse
