I will be in the city for the first time this week. I am especially attracted to purple haze. If anyone has been there recently, or has any advise on which cs has a good strain I would appreciate it. Thanks ahead of time!![IMG]

I expect any old purple strain gets called PH in a'dam, is that old strain still about? Who cares becuase theres better strains out there. Super Silver Haze and Nevilles haze are nice ones.

I can't help but think the same, Purple Haze is just a name.
but on the whole Hazes are generally good.

i'd be happy to seek out and smoke the purple i wrote about in the "first coffeeshop" thread. Tastes are subjective space and nem.........I'm sure the OP will appreciate your alternative choices but thats no reason to discourage his liking for purp.
Although you do make a valid point spacedoubt.

Out of pure curiosity, did you know.
Purple colouration on cannabis can occur on any strain which
can indicate an accumulation of anthocyanin (phosphorus deficiency)
or in most cases indicates that the pistillate plants are over-mature
and cannabinoid biosynthesis is slowing down.

also that abnormally cold weather will cause purple colors in cannabis plants.

I always liked the "Lavander" sold at many of the shops. Not as strong, but a pleasant smoke, none the less.

Yeh, about 4 weeks away and to be honest it's killing me waiting
but I'm starting to get excited now and preparing things to do there,
I'm travelling solo this time but no worries got plenty of things to do. lol
Friends are bored of A'dam so it's Prague with them later in the year and
plan to hit A'dam again after with a bit of luck.

didn't djshort (breeder) try to induce it with a chemical called colchein (sp?)

I remember him saying that was his main method and he was one of cheif breeders involved in stabalizing the blueberry strain for seed production

Hmm I doubt it was that Colchicine as it would cause the bud to be unsmokable for many generations(apparently)

I hope Newport 66 can get some nice purple weed in A'dam but all the purple buds I saw out there looked pretty poor.

Colchicine is a nasty, dangerous and poisonous chemical sold by
laboratory supply houses. It's used, as far as I understand, to multiply
sets of chromosones within one cell of the plant to increase the THC
considerably, manipulating the important characteristics contained
in the gene pool and used by geneticists.

    found this by dj short:

"For the record let me state that I have never used colchicine, or any other mutagen, in my breeding work . All of my selections are from organically produced crops. I do have my suspicions, however, primarily concerning some of the Thai strains that I have used."

yeah that sounds like a "cover my ass disclaimer" from him. Ofcourse with information of this nature, most of it is "he said she said" so I could be wrong.

Popeye Coffee shop was selling outdoor Purple Haze last summer.
Colour was amazingly purple but the taste wasn't as berried as I though it would be.
Very mild effects but had to try it JUST BECAUSE OF THE NAME!
Still I'm pretty sure it had nothing to do with the legendary purplr haze.
