If you wanted to spend 4000-5000 on a car..... what would you consider your best options?- all i really care about is something that wont break down much and is decent on gas.
I would recommend perhaps a used Toyota Corolla or Honda Civic/Accord. Both are very reliable, economical cars. American cars, IMO, are pieces of shit. They leak oil and break down a lot, and aren't put together half as well.
honda civic or accord. all but two of my friends drive accords and love them never had a problem. i had a boss years back who had his accord for 12 years!!!!
haha, that's cool! when i was younger we had a tandem that we used to take to the beach with the baby on the back... it was awesome, so much f un! trish, i'd go with what everybody else said.. try to get a car with less than 60,000 miles... usually they start breaking down at that time (american cars at least) and go with something small (like the accord or civic) they really are great cars and last a loooong time. the only downfall is taht they can be a little difficult to work on and the parts can cost more than american parts (but you don't need them as often) i got my 96 isuzu rodeo a couple years ago for 4500 and it only had about 50,000 miles and great upholstery, was in really good shape. it's possible to find a good car for cheap. do you know somebody who knows cars well? car salesmen can be deceiving... you might want to look at kelley blue book online to check going prices for vehicles too.
I want a smart car I'm actually gonna try and save up some money for one and everything! Well, I need a new comp first but that's less than a grand for a semi-decent one that I'll be able to upgrade as need be. After that, when (if?) I get two grand saved up, I'll go down to Regina and buy me a smart car since there aren't any dealerships of them up in Saskatoon according to their website.
http://www.smart.com/-snm-014734385...com/RootFolder/smart/modelle/smartcabrio.page it's soo small, and cute only thing is, I'm not sure if it's legal for roads in teh states yet or not :S
definitely a Honda or Toyota I had an 82 Honda Accord that I sold in 99 still running fine with 198,000 miles on it.
After checking with Consumer Reports, I have to agree with my esteemed colleagues above. Go with either a Civic or a Corolla, and assuming you know how to drive one, get a manual transmission. Those things last forever. Up until my accident, I had a 10 year old (~140K miles) corolla that was still running like new.
I got my van for $100. It runs perfect, but it is uglier than shit with a wig. I am making it look better every day though. I have installed tie dyed cutains, dash, and headliner. It isn't as good on gas as a corrola or a civic, but if you don't try being the little old lady from passadena, it doesn't do to bad. Plus when I travel, it saves on the expense of hotels and such. Just drive down some old back road somewhere, there's a bed in the back.
