Hi i just registered here, im a 17 year old lad doing my A levels in the UK.
I've got high hopes of going to college and studying Uni. i might end up one day with a succesful 9-5 Job, but i think if that happened i'd feel sad on the inside...
because i feel trapped by how we dont have many years to live and working for 'the man' just doesn't feel like the sort of thing i want to do with my life...

i want to be free and explore the world with my Girlf friend and a back pack and change the world for the better.... but i know i cant because im trapped by the machine...

Help me! what do i do? :(

I don't know.. But at some jobs I've had (and promptly quit) the people workng there.. It has made me wonder so.. What is the point? IF you only live so you can work so that you can live etc... What is the point of even living? Just what a pointless existence it all seems.

yeah it does seem that - but i've realised that before i've even had my first full time job... i really can't Bare the concept of doing the same job for 20+ years just to get by in life, then die and lose it all (i dont believe in after afterlife by the way)

I know that its possible to live outside the machine - off the land, adventuring.... but you need shit loads of money to break out of the machine in the first place

Yeah.. I don't see how they can stand it, I guess they've just given up.. I was thinking the other day how nice it would be to just leave.. Purchase a huge chunk of wilderness, and just go live out there..

Its called squatting. There is this tiny town of maybe 30 houses about 45 minutes from our town, and a 10 km hike from there is an old abandoned town (from the 50s) of about a dozen or so buildings. We spent 2 weeks "camping" there the summer after graduation, and there is some guy now who lives by himself there for weeks at a time.

    lol Thats pretty cool!

but i cant just break away from the mundane by saying bye to my family, and Things!

argh what i hate the most is my attachement to things! Its this stupid western Ideal - that you cant get by in life without things... and i have loads of useless crap that i dont need.
