I was on almost a weeks worth of antibiotics (Zithromax). I didn't want to take them but it was either that or get sicker. Now I have oral thrush after having dry mouth from the antibiotics. What is a more natural way to get rid of it and does it ever go away??? I am at my wits end from this cause it is so depressing. :( It is on the back of my tongue and probably further down but I can't see that far down. As anyone here had it and what did you do??

Oral thrush IS nasty. Go to your pharmacist and they should be able to dispense a product for you, without you having to go to the doctor. Vaginal and oral thrush unfortunatly to commonly occur after a dose of antibiotics.

I ended up having to go back to the dr and they prescribed me some nystatin! It's really nasty too. :(

Yogurt, or acidophillus like you get at the healthfood store, I usually start eating lots of when I go on antibiotics. It might prevent thrush next time.

    i agree with hadley 100%
pro-biotics are so helpful with any yeasty conditions & you can take them daily (not just when you're sick) & take extra doses when you're on antibiotics

When my son and I got thrush, I put gentian violet in his mouth and on my nipples. Just use a Q-tip to put it wherever you see the thrush, or you can just suck on the Q-tip for a second. Do it once a day for a week. It's very yucky tasting and makes you look like you ate a big grape popsicle, but it works and it's so cheap. You can get it easily at small pharmacies. I don't think a lot of the mainstream ones carry it anymore.
