made these three for two friends of mine. the lady has thin locks, so i had to make hers real small, which was an interesting and successful task. if anyone's interested, i've got about a million beads left! contact me, if so.
beautiful work. i can totally appreciate the work that went into those, i haven't done it in so long, i don't know if my fingers or eyes could handle it, lol.
kayte--i was in a swapbox w/ you & a few other mamas about 3-4 years ago, and i acquired this badass, turquoise ceramic bead that looks almost like a log, and i couldn't remember if you had made it: (it's the bead on the long dread on the left) do you make any peyote stitched beads that would be big enough to fit around some of my dreads? i always have a hard time getting beads & such for my dreads to be big enough to fit over them ***and BY THE WAY, you did a WONDERFUL job on those stiches! the quality, colors, and patterns are lovely
phishcourtney - sure - i remember you! put nice pictures in that lil notebook. i didn't give you that bead, but i did put in some cool shit. i can make phatty big beads; my locks (some of em) are quite thick too, so i'm used to it. yours look great! i remember from your pic - who'd a thunk that hair'd turn into THAT hair! (mine too - super straight and thinish) anyways, do that private message thing if you're interested - i can make whatever, and i've got tons of peyote beads. and thanks, guys. i know this sounds so contrived, but they are for my people out in arcata, and so much love went into em! i kept thinking about my friends as i stitched.
very very beautiful,,, i imagine the time and effort they take cant be conveyed through pictures, but i think they are beautiful, your friends should be lucky to have you
ahh anyone with peyote stitches post em on here, i love to trade and collect them and anything dreaddie related
this sister wanted to see some other stitches; some i've got sittin round happen to be in my hair! not the best idea of what i've got, but at least it's somethin! except the striped one i actually got from a rad lady at the rainbow gathering last year. the green one i made myself.
Very nice mama. I love that green/yellow one you made. Neat pattern. You do such awesome work. And how cool to have someone give such a treasure to you. Your dreads are gorgeous! How long have you had them?
thanks. that green color will be in yours (a little!) my work ain't that awesome; i do take pride in a nice stitch and really enjoy it (as one might enjoy knitting). my locks are almost 6 years old. (jeepers!)
