doing nothing is just an expression. when you're 'doing nothing' you're still breathing, your heart is still beating, and so on... unless you're dead. then you're, well, being dead...

Actually birds are some of the most territorial critters on earth.
If you hear a bird singing, and it's not mating season, regardles of the species it's song can accurately be translated into "Fuck Off!".
