Bein a photography student, when i have a project set outdoors, i have to take the dry days (few n far between in england haha) to take photos. i do sunday and monday over nite shifts, n asked the manager if i cud have monday nite off- but offered to work any other shift over the week even if it meant not really sleeping between college. He didnt have a problem, but when he ring the bigger rats up they said no. Bastards. If a company employs students, then its gotta be their responsibility to encourage their future. especially the biggest company in the UK. so it sucks coz i need the money, but cant work tonite n they are givin me the cold shoulder n not budgin. Hope im not gunna get in too much trouble for not showin up
If they are giving you hastle, simply dont go - if they give you shit you just have to tell them you had the right - with school etc etc. They have plenty of extra staff who can fill in anyway! It's things like this that have stopepd me from asking for an applicatrion form from my Local Tesco - no matter how good they pay and how many people say i should
yea they are the worst place ive worked at thankfuck im gettin education so i can have a real life lol
It's not just Tesco ... mediocre jobs in general have tight-arse bosses who don't actually give a shit about their employees, although they like to pretend. I work for Asda and even though the company can easily afford cover for shifts, they prefer not to spend the time and money so the pressure is always there to be at work all the time, regardless of your life. I just love it when managers begin a grilling with the sentance 'I'm a reasonable person but ... ' Haha!
unfortunately england has a long association with shit jobs, shit accommodation and dying an early death. my advice - leave whilst you still have your health. by the way "sainsburys" are much bigger fuckers.
well this tesco is expected to lose 2500000 in twelve weeks because roads works have cut it off almost completely---- ha!
even their carry bags are shite . as for asda their a pain in the arse ......cos thats asda price slap slap ...... sayin that try workin in sayers (twat of a job )goodluck man ........
the sainsburys i worked at left out some mars bars out in the chernobyl rain overnight, then flogged them off cheap to get rid of them quick. fuckers.
Well we all knwo how i left Waitrose (snobbs)! With the sexist boss who insulted my girlfriend and who tried it on with me. just try to go out in style
my mum works at tescos and apparently if you have a day off sick you are given a welcome back which is basically a bollocking for being off sick. (how dare you get cancer? How is that going to profit tesco)
The problem with large businesses is that its actually a lot easier to force whatever they want on employees rather than actually giving a fuck about your rights as a person. Because if you don't like the way they treat you, they can hire someone else, easy. Thats why i'm glad I have a nice supervisor who stands up to the fuckheads upstairs.
Theres nothing u can do to change it - all companies like that care about is money money money - they put on this big happy family show for all the customers but what they actually forget is their staff are potential customers aswell and their families and friends too...............it'll come bak to bite them on the ass eventually. if they piss off enough employees who dont shop there cos of that and get their families to stop shopping there too they'll soon feel the pinch, dont u think?
Well we all knwo how i left Waitrose (snobbs)! With the sexist boss who insulted my girlfriend and who tried it on with me. just try to go out in style __________________ Rock On... worked in waitrose, pool table in staff room woo! ended up me n a manager pinnin eachother to walls. The thing is that u have to be assertive with em, not arrogant coz the end of the day it is ur job n ur contract to keep, but if u got shit goin down u gotta take care of number 1
"TESCOS" - i follow the line of thought that you know the beast by its mark, does anyone know how and why this name came into existence? though not knowing this myself i'm sure someone could do some small research and come to some illuminating conclusion.
Cos I'm a sad individual with no life, I looked it up. The name comes from the founders TE Stockwell, and Jack COhen. Hohum
I've been out of the country for quite a while, but I did hear that things are deteriorating in England. I've always shopped in the shops you all mentioned above and back in my student days they used to be very reasonable toward their staff. I didn't realize they had succumbed to acting like tyrants. And why? Every single one of those chains is making enough profit to feed Africa ten times over. Granted that a company has to make money. That's the whole reason d'etre of its being there. But why does it have to use its managerial staff to intimidate and humiliate its staff? We all tend to blame the company, but a company doesn't make decisions; the people that run it do. Even if they plead ignorance to what their managers are doing, they are in fact responsible for putting them there. Just as the managers are responsible for their subordinates. One thing that doesn't surprise me at all, is that in all this unfairness in the working environment, nobody once mentioned the unions. It stands to reason for me to assume that you can trust a union as far as you can spit. Some of them actually do a good job of looking after their members, but corruption has infiltrated every level and we all live in a world where we no longer know who to trust. I don't believe there are many people that will not do their work as long as they're treated with a little courtesy and understanding that they have a far more important life beyond their working place. In fact, business stems from compromise back to the days of haggling in the merchant towns of Mesopotamia. But the truth of the matter lies with the fact that a large number of you being students on low income. Your primary goal is to complete your education, but your hurdle is surviving the course. Obviously they know that and they will take advantage of it. Going back to what I said before, however, since they're making gargantuan profits, how will trading a day off affect the future of these giants? Will they go bankrupt by switching a student's day off to another day? Will the competition swallow them up? This is taking the piss. But are they complete idiots? I don't think so. For everything we do there is a reason and unless all the managers of supermarkets in the UK are suffering from a mental disorder, then that principle applies to them, too. So what coud the reason be? I have a theory. Call it a conspiracy theory if you like, but the people at the top have been doing their utmost to keep the poor in ignorance. You, the students, are the biggest threat to their political system. They will use every opportunity to shut you up. They will mock you. They will undermine you. They will threaten you. They will even try to blackmail you. Do these things sound familiar, or am I talking out of my arse? I'm not a communist, or an idealist, by any means, but the capitalist system has become out of control. It has taken a totally new direction since the Soviet Union collapsed, because it doesn't have to make itself look better with fake promises of personal liberty for its population. Your voice, as students, is diminished by people's attitude. And people's sttitude is influenced by the media through comedies et al, that you are a bunch of good for nothing lazy bastards. You know that not to be true. You do your work like everyone else and if they didn;t need you, then why the hell did they employ you? The truth of the matter is that you are already fighting a war against ignorance and you have to inform the public in any which way you can. Leaflets, talking in the pub, just pass the message. The road ahead is hard, but you have to help and allow the political system to evolve, before it consumes us all. You have the biggest weapon in your hand. Knowledge.
of course head managers and admin keep workers in ignorance- or we would all be loaded with health n safety claims. i would have my very own health n safety manual. im jus remindin my store that theyre in the red n they are quite content to still b cunts. i want hot food on my night shift! if we can spread the word we cud cause mutiny in every single Tesco up and down the UK! haha
