seperating sizes is a grweat idea but who determines what is considered big? some appointed dog catcher or public safty person? i mean to some people a boxer is a large dog, or a pit bull. but i have an english mastif and a boxer and the mastif makes the boxer look like a play toy. then great danes st banards and so on eventually you end up with three or 4 different areas for different sized dogs.

and for a dog being current on its shoots thats great but taking a pet to a place where there is so much concentration of possible "BUGS or other problems" it dont seem hardly worth the risk to the pet.

and i still dont know why so many fellow pet owners think its the tax payers duty to fund such a place, wouldnt you think that money spent would be better served in other areas? like maybe a spay and nueter clinic or further funding to the local pound ? or anything really that could be of benifit to the whole communitity rather than some pet owners.

It's really not that expensive for a community to fund a dog park. They don't require a lot of upkeep if the pet owners behave responsibly (a big IF, granted). Most communities have some land that has no real use otherwise. Beyond the initial expense of fencing, there aren't a lot of costs I would think. Insurance? I don't know if that's a factor.

as far as dog size, I would figure large dogs to be over 45-50 lbs. there are so many breeds well under 30 lbs. I guess the gray area would be those dogs between 30-45 lbs.

insurance maintence and upkeep being the biggest constant expence then the lawsuits after a person gets bitten by a dog on city property is the real kicker.

Yep, yep! We take our pooch to an off leash dog park in the area and she loves it. I guess I wouldn't really call it a park... it's just a large fenced in area that's divided for big dogs and little dogs. She has a lot of fun. :D
