i had my first wine a couple weeks ago in honor of my fiance's 21st, and i really liked the pinot noir we were having, but i got sick off of the reisling.

last night, my mom served some german white wine (i can't even pronounce the name), and it was sweet and bitter but hardly what i would call enjoyable.

what i am wondering is whether my palette will continue to mature as i have more and more wines, or whether i am stuck with the palatte i have.

any words of encouragement/ words of wisdom for a newbie at drinking?

    thanks

I've noticed that some wine can be sharp and too sweet
almost bodering the taste of sherry. Try to be aware of the
alcohol content, ie, anything around 11% will be OK but when
your getting over 13% it can be way too much in taste.
When I buy wine I tend to look at the price first then the region
and then the alcohol content preferably being no more than 12%,
then I read the description on the wine label. I always drink white
wine and very rarely touch reds out of choice.
