Nothing I've ever seen comes close to Pink Floyd, even though they're not my favorite band. I was lucky enough to see both The Wall and Pulse. It's by far the most elaborate, visually exciting rock show in the world, and the music is great (both in substance and performance). If you have not seen them live, try to get the videos. I still hope they will reunite and tour again.

Phish, Iron Maiden of the 80s, Primus, Fishbone, The Dead, WSP, Jethro Tull, Deep Purple, Yes, ....there's way too many bands that do (or used to) put on great shows to list here. I've never seen King Crimson, otherwise they'd be on my list. Did I mention Phish?

Tools shows are INTENSE. On their last tour with the Aelx Grey art and the freakin trippy videos. And Maynard painted BLUE. Yeah, their shows are so good.

Cheese is great, though sometimes can be a little flat. But I would have to say the best live show has to be Galactic. Those guys have rocked my world every time I've seen them. (I'm in the crowd on the front page of their website) :sunglasse Umphreys McGee rocks, too. Super high energy hard driving jams! And what about Bill Laswell jamming out with Buckethead at Bonnaroo? Sick! Sick! Sick!
Oh yeah, can't forget about Del McCoury or David Grisman.

Galactic, Umphrey's McGee, Karl Denson, Del McCoury, David Grisman, String Cheese, MMW, DJ Logic.
    (anyone noticing a theme here?);)
    Check this:
I looked at Galactic's homepage www.galacticfunk.com and I'm in the crowd shot! It was an awesome moment. Right as Clarice sang "don't touch me or lightning will strike", it did! The whole crowd went "oooh". She skipped a line and said, "I know you saw what just happened Bonnaroo". I can't believe the guy clicked his shutter right as it struck.

Henry Rollins does a great routine about going to see Kiss - had me in stitches! I've heard they rock. But I've also heard (and read) that Gene Simmons is one of the biggest chauvanist assholes in the biz.

Yea, Ween, I almost forgot about them. One of the best, rock-your-face-off shows I've seen in a long time.

In the last 6 years I've seen about 500 live shows in Amsterdam. My favorites:
    Janes Addiction
    Michael Franti & Spearhead
    George Clinton
    Beck
    Ani Difranco

In 1969 the Who was my first live show and it was great.

In the 70's my favorite live band was Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young (saw them several times from 1971-1975)

In the 80's my favorite live band was the Talking Heads.

Who said Peaches? Man, what was that like? Wait I don't know if I want to know.

A couple people said Phish. I agree they were good. When I saw them in a bar in Guelph, there were only 20 people there. Kinda sad. We passed a joint to the singer while they were playing. That was fun.

will have to agree with you 100% on the nin 'And all that could have been' dvd. Has anyone listened to the bonus 'still' cd that came with the live cd.

It contains de-constucted versions of some old nin classics and 3 brand new tracks, which send shivers down my arms (not as much as floyds 'comfy numb though' ).
