i'm trying to gather people interested in forming vegan intentional community. i see it as egalitarian community with written basic rules and voting for concensus for other decisions. it will be organic farm, maybe permacultural, with possible sustainable side-occupations for income. members will form their homes alone, with family, friends or any way they like. so basically, land will be communal, dwellings separate with some shared buildings. land here in croatia is still cheap, before we enter european community (procedure is in motion). plough, meadow and mixed wood costs about 15.000 croatian kunas = 2.000 euros = 1.400 gbpounds = 2.500 usdollars per hectar (10.000m2). ground, air and water are amongst cleanest in europe. by studying other intentional communities around the world, i came to conclusion that half of hectare (roughly 1,2 acres) per one person is needed for comfortable living. i'm thinking about this all the time, but this is sceleton of idea only. so, please give me your willingness to join, or offer ideas and constructive comments.
good idea! i'm not a vegan myself but still a great idea! i wish you the best of luck and en lep pozdrav iz slovenije oh by the way are there any communes (not necceserily vegan) in croatia (slovenia too)?
hey domachi ! well, there are only some for drug-addicts rehabilitation, as far as i know. couple of those are established as non-profit organisations, few of them are under the wing of catholic church.
hey hey i was thinking more of something like a hippy-commune type of thing.. wouldn't like to live in a rehabilitation center (hope i never will..)!
i don't know of any. there will be spiritual one in form of shiva-yoga center as soon as they gather rest of the funds for finishing the main building (electricity, exterior and interior finishing is left). hippy commune, no. maybe you can check this as closest to what you look for http://www.eia.hr/index.htm
