Sooo, I was just wondering, where do all you crafty folks buy your fabrics, yarns, whatnots? :D

(I don't know if there was a thread for this already, but... I couldn't find one when I searched. So I'm making this one.)

I personally like Len's Mill Store (lol only the Canadian people will know that one) and I'm always one for finding really great vintage stuff secondhand at thrift stores, etc.

    Okay. Talk. :D

I get my yarns at my LYS (Great yarns is the name) and if I'm feeling really cheap, I go to A.C Moore.

I like Hancock Fabrics here. I can always find the best selection of fabrics for much cheaper than Joanne fabrics. I haven't purchased organic fabrics in a long time and Hancock doesn't really carry any. Joann's claims to carry organic hemp and cotton, but it's not really.

I also like to tear apart clothing and reuse the materials I find.

I buy fabric at Beverly's and a local place called Betty's. Betty's is pricy but has such a good selection that it's worth it. It's unfortunate that I began sewing after learning a bit about (and therefore stopped shopping at) Wal-Mart, else I'd be saving a ton. But oh well, the price of knowledge, eh?

I get a lot of my yarn at the local yarn mill. They sell amazing stuff and have a fairly wide variety of colors and fibres such as merino wool, alpaca, alpaca/silk, angora.......the list goes on!
Another great spot for yarn is elann.com. They have pretty good prices and the shipping is fast.

I buy mine at Jo-Anns and Hobby Lobby... Not a very selection but I can usually make due... I think the Absolute BEST WAY to get any kind of fabric is at the thrift store. Your helping the community and getting cheap fabric... I would highly suggest it.

my favorite fabric store is g street fabrics. if you buy at the regular price, it is exspensive, but they have nice things. also, there is always a huge pile of inexspensive lots and remnants in the corner of the store which are about 2. a yard. i like to buy off season fabric for less too--wool in the summer time, always on sale:)

The only thing we have here is Rag Shop. Not much of a selection at all. Online I like to use eQuilter.com and I shop a lot on ebay. You can find good deals on there sometimes. I just got the cutest white corduroy with little pink and purple fairies on it. When I went on vacation to visit my daughter last May I spent over $300 there. JoAnn's, Hancocks, and Northwest Fabrics. I was in heaven.

I dont buy fabric. I collect clothing. All my friends bring their clothes they don't want anymore to me and I cut them up and harvest the fabric. I save old bedding, curtains, clothing anything I like the print on I save later to recycle. I cut off the pockets, buttons, zippers, ect. and save those parts for later and another use.
