I know I know its just there was a stupid spam message up here by a company called Crackpal and I wanted to get it off the mainpage cos they offer a password cracking service for losers, and they perport to be able to crack hotmail and yahoo passwords and as I have a hotmail account (woops! did I just say that?) I thought I'd try and be a hero by putting something here its place as quick as I could, and thats all I could think of to say.But there - now - I've said it.So now I've gotta try and make something of it.Well - it's true - THIS IS IT!! I've tried to do all the things I've always wanted to do before I pass from this mortal realm - I'm pretty sure there's nothing I've left out short of getting married, having kids and owning a house and a car - but I tried that and it wasn't my cup of tea.Although one thing I've often thought of doing is building a very big raft from logs and finding an extremely long river to sail down - I guess it would have to be abroad somwhere like...the Yukon? or somwhere like that? I could build the raft - just not sure how to get to the Yukon..

As Nina Simone says in a great live performance of her version of "I Got Life" (the hippie anthem in the musical Hair):

"As long as I wana to stay here I'm going to stay here!
And every day I get younger... and younger...
And I'm going to keep my life!"

And, in a way, I think she did! I'm with Nina on this one, and plan to do the same :)

Dude... hate to break it to ya.. but yes we will... 100 years from now, 1000 years from now, ()() from now.

Death is an illusion.. a good one at that....

Think about it... you see people die all the time... but ever notice how it never happens to you? You’ve been around for ever Paddler, and will be around always... waiting for death..

some think that from the moment of their death, they will live forever in heaven or hell... but the truth is... the afterlife is real.. and your already there dude.

    Peace

I used to have this theory that....well - something can't be made from nothing and that vice versa something can't become nothing - e.g. particles or whatever are just transformed into some other kind of energy. And therefore - the physical body just becomes dust and therefore is dispersed into the cosmos.Ok...so the soul must be of some kind of energy perhaps something that isn't proven yet but that if when we die - like the body - it would still exist - but maybe in some other form or free of physical boundaries. But it was just a theory based of what I see around me - I don't know nuthin bout quantum mechanics or nuthin. So - in my head anyway I'm open to possibilities.....

    Time for a dump.

Hey guys... yea, its all pretty interesting... probably one of my favorite topics. If you think about it... to find the answer of our existence would just overshadow everything we find important today... It would acctually be like finding God. RG your right... nothing could come from nothing... but... think of it this way...

If, there has always been nothing... than that nothing is actually something - It is us... People think that they are just biological beings, with their own unique thoughts... There really is nothing biological about us.. We are actually made up of the same thing as the shoes on our feet, or the water in the ocean... (atoms - electrons and neutrons. Now, if we are simply made up of this "energy"... could not this mass of endless energy simply be what some refer to as god? perhaps everything you see, feel, and experience is simply manufactured by us (almost like a daydream)... to kill that endless void of boredom that would otherwise exist.

You two guys should write a book together! It might solve the meaning of life, the universe, and everything!!!
I think the reality of the soul is proven by the fact that you can FEEL it. Of course, scientists aren't always too keen on this because it's hardly a concrete proof that the soul is real. But then, can science 'prove' that Love exists? Or Shame? The only proof that things like these exist is that we can all FEEL them and so we know they're real.

But what actually happens to the soul if we pop the old clogs, or where the soul actually came from in the first place, well... that's a whole other ballpark. I wouldn't be surprised, RG and Socratez, if you guys solve the mysteries and become two hippie trippie gurus that travel around spreading the word!

Hey Fiddler.. Yea, that would be a cool thing to do... We actually sit around and talk about this stuff all the time... unfortuanaly, I probably won't be traveling around much... I'll be more of a computer geek than a guru... but I like the hippie thing anyhow...

One thing I gotta ask though.. you say you can "feel" that the soul exists... almost like an emotion.. what do you mean... I feel love, or shame like you say, but not a soul....

Than again... people like Bush can bomb down hundreds of thousands of innocent children and go have dinner... me... I feel guilty if I’m grumpy to a telemarketer on the phone.. is that what you mean by soul?

What I mean by a person "feeling" the existence of their soul, my friend, is really this:

If you LOVE someone, Love is an abstract "feeling". Since it is not a concrete thing that can be touched, but rather is something that is "felt" inside, the only real, true proof that Love as an abstract emotion exists is that we "feel" it. Of course, we CAN'T put out our hand and really and truly feel it because, as I say, Love isn't a concrete thing. So when we say we "feel love for someone", or even just "feel a lot of love in the room", to use two common hippyish phrases, we really mean that we SENSE love, or perceive it. If you stroke a dog you can LITERALLY "feel" it! But love is sensed rather than literally felt.

When people talk about the state of their soul I think it is because they "feel" it inside, i.e., they SENSE it internally. One thing I love about the hippy vibe is that you are encouraged to look within yourself as much, or maybe more, than you look outside of yourself at the world around you. In this way I would see the hippy movement as a very "soulfull" thing. There is something cool about the way hippies like to try to tune into the inner world, which, if you believe in it, is, I guess, the realm of the soul.

Hope I'm not reaming off nonsensical jibberish, it's soooo late here and I'm knackered*!

*'Knackered' in UK lingo = 'totally exhausted'!

Ha! I'm similar - I sometimes get asked to open the bar at 3.00 in the morning and I usually just say 'OK' and serve em drinks - cos I think well if that was me I'd be hoping he'd say 'OK'.

Well yes you were but jibberish is my first language.Shamanism is something worth looking into I think if your'e into questions of the soul.It can easily be interpreted in terms of todays society - I went to a talk once called 'Shamanism and Miles Davis' - a guy my teacher infact had written a book about it - touching on comparisons between music - jazz as a free form expression and the 'release of the soul' - have you ever played any jazz, fiddler? I must admit it can take you to another level of consciousness and communication..
