Hows it goin, anyone have any recommendations for good lively bars that are smoke friendly? goin on saturday but one of the lads doesnt smoke so we gotta find a place where we can have a few pints with our j's. Places where you can roll inside and smoke outside would be cool too! I've also heard that the bigger clubs (paradiso / escape) have pretty thorough searches at the door? presumably they dont take your pot off you? do these places have smokin areas? Only 4 daze to go!!! goin nutz
On Friday and Saturday evenings many bars around town stay open until 3am, perhaps 4 in some spots. Best to check with the bartender about smoking or not. Many places I don't think it'd be a problem. There's loadsa bars in and around the RLD that you can get a pint and have a smoke, but sounds as though your looking for somewhere a bit bigger and busier, so im not really much help im afraid. I will say one thing tho... you lucky **** !!! Ive got weeks to wait till my next visit
cheers for the replys, countdown is well and truly on. the last couple of weeks have been terrible. every hour feels like a day. flights only cost €88, unfortunately our usual hostel (pig palace) is booked up so we were left with bulldog hotel! the other lads are students so other hotels were to much $$$. I've heard alot about Excalibar, i'll give it a shot this time. Any of you been in the Tara Irish Bar, i've heard its pretty good and smoke friendly, not sure where it is though. That'll be a last resort though, goin to amsterdam to sit in an irish bar just doesnt make much sense. Any recommendations on where to watch the FA Cup games over the weekend?
Watch out for the fluctuations for the price of a pint in the Globe. One time we went they charged a cheap price for Heineken then later that evening we returned, a new bar-man was serving and he decided to whack on loads more Euros, the git, no doubt going directly into his own pocket. But they do have a good sports TV projection screen and pool table and it's done out like a typical English bar, tourist orrientated and friendly.
