Users found with a small amount of cannabis are let off with a caution! AHA! I mean, that's just great.

It used to be a fine I think.

Most cops KNOW pot isn't bad.
    Know why?
Most of them have smoked it (or still do). And if they didn't or don't, they have friends/family who do.
And they have bigger fish to fry than some penny-ante pot poss. charge.
And that how pot is becoming decrim'ed.
Little by little, everywhere pot is illegal, cops are basically ignoring proscribed law.
That's why I ALWAYS treat leo's with respect. Even if they are being assholes, I'm like "yes sir" and "no sir".
People seems to forget that cops are like your brother, dad, sister, mom, aunt, uncle etc--just people.
Most people, even cops, will treat you with respect if you do the same.
Of course, some cops are born assholes, and some have bad days (like you and me and everyone).

In Calif., back as far as the early 70's, cops would just tell people to grind their pot into the dirt, empty it into the trash or just tell people that they shouldn't smoke pot. One cop held up a small baggie of my pot back then and said "you know this stuff is illegal, right?" and handed it back to me.

So it still is illegal as far as the dea is concerned, but most cops know pot smokers aren't gonna be a problem to ANYONE and will just send you on your way.

The laws in UK changed a while back when they declassified cannabis from a class B drug to a class C. The main reason was so that weed didnt take up and waste valuable police time. If your caught now with a small amount for personal use you will only get a caution. You used to get arrested and either fined or a short prison sentance. We are still a long long way off from being as liberal as Holland, and the rest of Europe seem to have followed our lead and declassified the drug in other countries too.

I haven't gotten caught in AL and I don't smoke anymore.. TX had pretty lax laws about it though. :D
