Anyone here read his 1970 trial testimony. I think he is clearly crazy, talking about beating someone’s brain in with a microphone as he did, is not a good thing to do, and his actions are clearly of a person who is insane. What he did should not be excused. But interestingly the more I read the testimony, some of the statements he makes are accurate and true. He talks about how the “Family” was made up of kids who were lost and that Nixon should have been helping those kids instead of sending them off to war. This is an accurate statement. He talks about how the people who are prosecuting the case are as much responsible for the Vietnam war as he is for murdering people. Which is true. He talks about how the kids didn’t learn to be violent from him, that it was parents and society who taught them. His statement that the truth is in the music, and that those who are in the system are too dumb to hear and see it. This is accurate While Manson’s actions are deplorable and are deserve condemnation, its scary how right he was in terms of his view of kids and war and violence. What gets me so angry about iraq, is the fact that people like Manson, and the Symbionese Liberation army, Weathermen, and others will spring up. Its only a matter of time. A society that believes violence is okay, it only breeds more violence. Why don’t people understand that. This is what is surprising to me about the current war. The public has turned against it, it is even more unpopular than Vietnam ever was, according to gallup and other polls. A majority of Americans support impeachment. Yet their isn’t a subculture of kids who feel disenfranchised. It doesn’t make sense. My assertion is that the manson killing would not have occurred had Vietnam not been going on. It was a direct correlation. I don’t think it was a good thing, but it makes sense that violence breeds violence. Manson, and his followers stated that the reason they did what they did was because of violence and Vietnam When will the 50 year olds sending 21 year olds to die in iraq realize that this breeds violence.
u may not agree w/ me but i think its so messed up that we kill like thousands of iraqis, and no one cares, then when 1 american soldier dies, its on the news and all this stuff, and they talk to the fmaily and make a huge deal about it. but who cares for all the iraqis that die? 1 american soldier dies compared to like 500 iraqis that die..
Anything happens to/in America, it's all over the world. 9/11 happened...heard about it ALL the time for who knows how long, ALL over the world. A bombing in Australia happened a year or two ago, I think. And how much has the world heard about it? Zip. If we have, not a whole lot.
The kids have been "properly distracted" this time. I mean, look at our peers! They don't care about anything, as long as they have their ipods, cell phones, and quick fixes for fun. I have friends who seem hip at first, but the second I start talking about something important (world issues, politics, whatever), they get pissed, say they hate that stuff, and don't want to involve themselves because they really don't care. It doesn't concern them! It's awfully frustrating. ~Nova
manson was a psycho... most a very cunning. it wouldnt have taken a war to for him to convince the flock.
Manson did what he did to get back at the Wilsons for dumping him.. it had nothing to do with politics.. He's insane. he manipulates people by using words to decive them, he tells them what they what to hear..imo they should have executed all of them years ago.. found God my donkey!!
Those who are the most expert with Evil ALWAYS mix lies with the truth. If someone only tells lies, it's easy to spot them and avoid them, mix lies and the truth and you have some people who will follow you.
This is exactly as Dumbya's administration wants it. The only ones paying attention are the mindless right wingers who can marginalize dissent as deranged and unpatriotic.
welcome to the duality this existence offers. He Manson used LSD to brainwash others. Another reasons to understand that words are/can be very powerful if used right. The intentions of Manson was of a treble nature! Isn't it ironic that LSD and The Bomb came into existence at the same time! Both the bomb an LSD can be used for good or bad, just like every thing we see. There's a message here. I feel that the people in power know how to manipulate words and understand the nature of the type of existence we share. Manson did, and used it in a wrong way.
I understand completely our planet has become so superficial our generation needs a serious wake up call. All everyone cares about now is looking better than everyone else or having the latest gadget. no one cares aout changing the world. We've completely surrendered our power as the citizens to change the world. We basically just sit back and say " who cares what the government does it wont affect me" and the only way these people will realize this is if they end up dead because of it. I cant tell you how many people say things to me like "the best way to deal with osama bin ladin is to blow afghanistan off the planet" and other things just like that. shit Im rambling
ok i know manson was completely insane but that dosent diminish how intelligent he actually was....societies killers well the serial killers anyways tend to be way above average intelligence(manson, ted bundy, geoffrey dahlmer(SP?) Imagine if theyre mind power could have been used for good instead of evil......there's no telling what could have been i

I would like to point out that the Weather Underground was not violent, destructive yes. They blew up a lot of stuff but they always made sure no people were ever hurt.
