so let me ask you this if it is are they going to have to go in to deterimin that? and then how is it that repair it? i saw a vid on public tv one time it wasemt very nice i know i have torn somthing but dam i dont relish the thuoght of them pulling my shoulder apart!! already been there with my knee with a local its not the pain its the thougt that gets me!! i want to be out!!!lolwmd
A bit over a year ago I tore somthing in my right shoulder, I was pulling myself up onto a roof and felt it tear deep in my shoulder. So for the next 4 weeks it hurts so bad I couldnt even raise my right arm anythig above being level with my shoulder. I went to the doc and got some flexirile and stuck it out. I was told if he did op on it and the fact I build houses that sooner or later id need to be cut on again. He did say if I was smart I could let it heal on its own if I didnt fuck it up worse while it was healing. So I taught myself to do alot of things left handed and such. After 8 months I still was leary about usin it much cause under load I could still feel somthing pull. But nows its been a year and all is fine but I still favor my left arm and side when doing heavy lifting. Some can do as I did some rip shit so bad its got to be screwed back to the bone.
A few years ago Larry fell off the top of the ladder on his dump truck and hit the pavement at the gas station. The diagnosis was a torn RC. He got muscle relaxers and pain meds. he had therapy 2 times a week and had these huge rubber bands to use at home. Once in a while now it will act up. But he chops wood almost everyday now and does fine. BUT you should see a doctor, just to determine if therapy or exercises would help. If it is very severe then you may need surgery. But as others said...you won't know anything just by guess work. Good luck...and did you hurt it at work? Larry was lucky in that respect...workmans comp was wonderful. And he hurt it a couple weeks before the seasonal layoff so while he would have been recieving unemployment..he ended up getting almost twice the money on work comp.
Don't fuck with it Get to a doctor! I injured my right rotator cuff when I slipped on some water at work. I didn't notice the injury right away, it was a slight tear. I did feel pain in my left wrist and recieved worker's comp for that, but was sent right back to work (real hard physical work) and I favored my left side. My right shoulder started hurting more and more every day. Within a couple of weeks I could barely lift my right arm. I put my work scrubs on one day and felt a tear and excrutiating pain. I went home from work, went to a doc and went for an MRI. I had a major complete tear from the bone. Of course my employer (a Catholic Hospital!) wouldn't pay worker's comp since I didn't report it the day I fell. The first doc I went to was on the hospitals payroll; he'd do whatever they told him including saying in his opinion it wasn't work related so the hospital could get out of paying worker's comp. I went to an honest surgeon and he agreed the injury was from the accident and got me into surgery right away. The rat bastard doc that worked for the hospital had been dragging his feet for several weeks and I read on the internet that surgery should be done within 2 weeks or the chances of success drop. I had major surgery and now have screws connecting my muscle to bone. I had to spend 6 weeks in a recliner before I could sleep in my bed and it was about 4 more months before I could sleep on that side. I couldn't drive my car (a stick) for about a month as I recall. It's now been a little over 3 years and I have to be careful. I've got most of my strength back but I'm limited to how much I can lift over my head and I have to avoid mopping, shoveling snow, etc. It took about 2 years in court to get the hospital to pay up and it was nothing compared to what I had to spend on medical expenses. Lost my job and had to file for bankruptcy. Well, enough about how employers screw their people. In some cases, if the tear is minimal it will respond to physical therapy. Ony a visit to an orthopaedic doctor and an MRI will tell. Count on lots of bucks. Hope you have insurance. Bottom line, it won't go away and if you keep using it you could wind up with a serious tear like I did. Good luck and let me know how it goes. I'm going to try to attach a PDF that explains it. If it doesn't work, Google rotator cuff injury. Sir Stephan
WOW Sir you really got screwed on that one....rat bastards is right. Yes sweetie, get to a doctor, if you can't afford one go to the health dept. and get a referall. But go now, Larry was Lucky he went straight to the doctor within 20 min of it happening and was VERY lucky. You don't want something like this messing up the rest of your life.

It seems I got lucky with my deal, it took a long long time to get better....but I know my right shoulder will never be as it was so I favor my left side alot more.
Sounds like you need to get out of construction. Get to your local Vocational Rehabilition office. They can pay to get you retrained in something less physical. They'll pay for tools if you need them for your trade, too. Check it out as soon as you get your shoulder taken care of. Good luck.
