ive got it but havnt listened to it for a while. without listening to it right now i think jim wrote it as a journey through dark thoughts
I've got a live version and the recorded one. The words are great but the live one takes the cake easy. I'm actually listening to it now.
Morrison said himself that it's not to be taken seriously. It's just to be dramatic. Don't get me wrong, I think it's amazing. I'm just saying that it doesn't mean that much.
according to him it's about some kids getting lost in the dessert. I think it's one of those things where it's more what you get from it then what it's written about. Although I do think that the last verse had some meaning cuse it was the only thing said at hid funeral. And he was pissed when they would'nt let him put it on the record.
well the one that I have, off the Doors Legacy HIts, is a mix of different songs of theirs like Not To Touch The Earth, Go Insane, and other poetry. so i dont know if they were supposed to be together and got split into many songs or were made seperatly and combined for a insanely awsome fiesta.
I have a couple performances of it, I really like it. LizardKingMike is right, I read the lyrics a hundred of times trying to find the meaning, I can figure out the basis but it's mostly a combination of metaphors.
The first time I heard it I had to turn it off cuz it scared the hell out of me. I think I just let it run though but I swore I was gonna have a nightmare from it. Now I'm obviously ok with it.
I've only heard it on that absolutely live CD, but I'm not gonna lie, I didn't care for it too much. Maybe that's a shitty version? I donno...
i gotta agree with LizardKing Mike aswell. jim said himself that it wasn't suppose to mean anything, it wasnt written to try and change people or alter the way they were to live. he was an artist and not all of it is about truth. its a story that is so beautiful pieced together that you amost feel for a moment that it may be real. i love it just the same. aswel as mostof the rst of the stuff from the doors
