R, when said by French people, is rolled and therefore sounds like Rrrrrrrrrrrr. This isa cat-like noise, and therefore rather cool

isn't it one of those sounds that's fairly rare in most languages? Very very few languages have both r and l sounds, if I remember linguistics correctly (hey, it's been two years and the prof was awful, you're lucky I remember anything at all)
