this book is awesome, but weird as fuck. If you want to read something truly interesting, i would suggest this book. Its the memoir of this boy who grew up having to deal with his schizo mother and living with her psychiatrist. As he gets older, he doesnt really know how to properly function in the adult world due to his being brought up surrounded by mentally ill people. Its funny, but some parts were kind of disturbing. I remember reading about this book before actually reading it, and it was not what i expected at all. has anyone read it?
Running with Scissors... http://www.hipforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=56985 and some more Augusten Burroughs... http://www.hipforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=38232
it sounds interesting. i think ill check it out too, i noticed alot of threads about the author, and specifically this book. all good reviews
I heard an interview on NPR and he was very witty and authentically entertaining. Can't wait for it to show up at the local Goodwill store!
I seem to be the odd one out here, but I have to say, I didn't quite like that book all that much. I wouldnt go as far as saying it was terrible, and yes, it was interesting, but i can think of a thousand other books I would rather recommend.
Sounds interesting. My mother is a schizophrenic, and I had to go through a lot of rough times while I was growing up because of it.
