Lately I've become an almost daily smoker. And lately, what would have gotten me seeing things only months ago does nothing but give me a minor buzz. I used to be the group lightweight that would stop after only a few hits and make everyone else jealous that they weren't as stoned as me. Now I smoke as much as everyone else and I'm the one jealous of them.

I've been thinking about how to remedy this, I figure the only way to do this is by taking a marijuana break, to let my tolerance break down. However, while I don't feel addicted - I feel like I could easily not smoke, when the opportunity arises (for example, right now I'm alone for 3 or 4 hours) I start questioning this whole break thing. I have marijuana 10 feet away from me and the only reason I'm not smoking it is because I'm choosing not to. I could be high right now if it wasn't for this break. So, will a week long break really do much to help my tolerance? Assuming from then on I only smoked once every few days?

Also I don't hold in hits as long as I used to. For two reasons. One, holding in hits must be bad for your lungs. Two, I'm worried the only reason its getting me higher is that I'm holding in my breath and killing brain cells. Now I don't mind spending a little bit more money on pot to get higher versus spending the same and having part of my high induced by killing my brain cells, but can I have it both ways? Will holding my breath for ten seconds instead of three allow much more thc to go into my bloodstream while not depriving my brain of two much oxygen (when I take a hit I take in oxygen as well as a precaution).

So what do you think? Should I go smoke pot this very second? And if I should, should I hold in my hits for longer?

I actually took a one year break during freshman year. When I got high at the beginning of sophmore year it was easily the highest i'd ever been. I was just fucking gone it was ridiculous. It was likE I was in a whole other world. I actually blacked out for like 5 seconds too. So hold out as long as possible then smoke a lot and you'll get ripped.

About holding your hit in. Don't hold your breath just take the hit breathe in a bunch of oxygen to make sure you inhaled it then exhale. Gets you ripped :)

I have smoked for awhile now and the best way is to get a steady breathing pattern going like before you hit so you can get the maximum hit you can get. I also say to french inhale to get it flowing (that's where you very slowly exhale to where the smoke just barely leaves your lips and suck it up with your nose) then hold it in until it burns then SLOWLY let it out then repeat and if you happen to have good weed and a good instrument (bong, hookah, blunt, steamroller, or vaporizer) would be the 5 best. With that combos you'll be "whiteying" out like me in no time.

Holding your breath in for ten seconds won't have that much of an effect on your brain, but the key is to get a lot of oxygen and smoke into your lungs. If you take a bunch of oxygenless breaths of smoke, you're still depriving your brain of oxygen. So, just take your hit, and then breath in as much oxygen as possible.

Most people say that it takes 6 seconds for all the THC to absorb, but I've noticed that when I take a hit, I usually feel a burning or warming sensation in my lungs. I just wait for that to dull away, and then I slowly exhale.

Anyway, a break is probably what you want to do if your tolerance is getting in your way. I'd give it a month.

I think I would have to agree here. What you need to look at is the length of time it stays in your system. We all know that it is resting quietly in your bladder for a good 3 weeks or so, which is a decently long time. My point is that...It is obviously in your system for awhile, so in order for those levels to drop significantly enough to allow for a "fewer-hit-good-high" I would say that you should wait at least a month.

I've taken a few breaks during my pot smoking life, and I must say, the longer you hold out, the higher you will get. I took a week long break about 2 weeks ago because I was on vacation. Upon returning home, I bought a sack and smoked and discovered my tolerance didn't really go down that much. But when I take 2 or 3 week breaks, I get so fucking high it's ridiculous. So try not to smoke as long as possible. It's good for your body to take breaks too. Too much pot can sort of slow you down, you know?

dude since when have you got high or even light headed for holding breath 10 seconds? i dont.. when they say dont hold your breath caus it kills brain cells they mean like 20 seconds sorta thing and plus. otherwise, you youd be stupid caus yud loose the same amount of cells by hitting yourself in the head. (sorry, i do it all teh time :p)

nar man i never knew the chemicals you inhale through your lungs find their ways into the bladder, i thought that was only things you DRANK ;)

    Nope...Ok...here goes.

Chemicals (namely THC) can be excreted from the body in two ways...Through the lungs or through the kidneys. You excrete THC when smoking, and that which stays in your blood stream, leave the body through the kidneys. What do kidneys do? They filter blood, ridding the body of nitrogen, urea, and other chemicals that do not belong there. Ah hah! See this is what matters here. The kidneys, after flitering blood, send the waste products to the B L A D D E R. A nice little reservoir that holds fluids until we are ready to empty it. :)

THIS is how we fail a drug test...THC is stored in the bladder, and happens to stay there awhile (about 3 weeks).

I have a nursing background...*shrug* You can look up Metabolism of drugs and meds and research their excretion methods or you can take my word for it :D

It really depends on your bodies' metabolism but since thc is fat soluble it can take up to a month to get you to a point were you can get as stoned as you used too.

i think your being kinda dumb, your all paranoid about not getting enough oxygen and killing brain cells, if you wanna get stoned your gonna have to get over that.

Uhh I think the thc stays in your fat, not in your bladder. It does LEAVE through your bladder though.
