There that huge one i think its called... I long strange trip it has been... Or something like that http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0767911857/104-1267208-8423906?v=glance&n=283155 Its a prety big book...
"Living with the Dead" is good. It was written by GD manager Rock Scully. Very interesting and funny.
the McNally Long Strange Trip is a bio. What a long strange trip is more of a backgrpound, and I recall whats behind the songs? Do you mean books by heads about heads? Cookin' With the Dead is great for a 90s feel. Deadheads by Linda Kelly was a good one I hear good reviews on David Dodd's Greatful Dead and the Deadheads: an annotated bibliography Skeleton Key for more trivia than you need to know Grateful Dead : The Official Book of the Deadheads by Paul Grushkin, Cynthia Bassett, Jonas Grushkin is a keeper.
Phil Lesh: searching for the sound~> It's Phil's bio but i feel it gives a amazing insight to what the band went through...very personal
Polaroids from the Dead by Douglas Coupland. Its not so much about the band but the first maybe half of the book is a short story about Deadheads.
You mean 'The Deadbook - a social history of the Grateful Dead'? I used to have a 1st edition until I was fool enough to lend it out. I read it back in the 70's - I don't know how much resonance it would have for young people now.
my favorite is "home before daylight- my life on the road with the grateful dead" by steve parrish. it has some far out road stories, infact that comprises most of the book.
