I want to do something with my hair but im not sure what and i would like some suggestions. I have long blonde hair (to about nipple leangth :H ) its quite smooth and i wash it fairly often. I usually wear a beany hat over it to keep it out of my eyes. I was thinking of doing dreads, but i thoght that was a bit rasta and would smell eventually. I also thought of wrapping bands of hair in cotton. my girlfriend put one in and it looked quite cool, but when it gets round to washing it i'd have to take it out and im too damn impatient! any other fun suggestions will be much apreciated! Thanks!
Dreads would only get smelly if you dont wash them. Most of the people I know with dreads wash their hair much more often (and take care of it much better) then people without locks.
If you know how to hemp then you can do a hemp wrap in your hair... braid the hair first, then hemp around it. I've never done just because I have so little time but I want to. It seems fairly easy. My friend did for a month or two and it turned into a dreadlock. Now that is sweet...
i have had dreads for a year and mine always smell nice, last time i washed em i used little kids blueberry shampoo LOL as long as you take care of em they dont smell, and vikings had dreads too
dreads would be awesome and not "rasta or smelly" at all. read this page: http://www.knottyboy.com/learn/notsure.php
by wrapped in cotton do you mean hair wraps made with embroidery floss? you can wash those, just don't condition them (pull 'em aside) I've had them last 18 months and... you get baby dreads on the top!
hmmm not sure if it was called embroidary floss. but basicly it was wound really tight. :& Thanks for that link btw! :sunglasse
Yeah, dreads don't smell unless you don't wash them. When I met a friend of mine with dreads, her dreads actually took on some of the pleasant smells around us, like the incense we burnt. Dreads are a very cool, low-maintenence way to style your hair. But you have to remember, it's not something that looks good right away. Your hair will look nuts for about 6 months until they settle and start to really tighten. but they are very much worth it.
I used to do this all the time. It's really cool. Especially if you add some glow-in-the-dark beads. experiment, go wild, have fun!!!
Dreadlocks all the wayyyy..... one question... if i want to wrap a couple of my dreads up in embroadiery floss, or hemp, how do i "end" it? like how do i keep it tight?? i guess that doesn't make much sense... oh well
Get a hair cut you crazy hippie! You look like a girl! No, I am completely joking. I have long hair (although not as lengthy as your, and I do wish it was... But that will take time, which I am deffinately giving it) Dreads are cool. I have researched them alot for myself and will probably get them some day. Either Knotty Boy or Dread Head HQ has some guarentee that your dreads will look great like the first day or something. I don't know how true that is but I think it is worth the wait anyway. What elso would you do with those 6 months of dread tightening anyway? Some origional braidswould be cool too. Like the elves from The Lord of The Rings had. You could also braid in some beads. I have often thougth about stuff to do with my hair too. Most of the time I wear a hat to intentionally get hat hair becauase my hair does this phunky thing to where it gets down to about ear-lobe level and starts flaring out to the sides if I don't wear a hat. Dos anyone else have this problem? Should it go away when my hair gets longer?
