I was thinking that when I graduate, I wanted to go to college and live on a commune....but do you think it would be to hard to balance communal life with college classes? Because I know some of them require labor and meetings and whatnot, but hey, a lot of Berkley kids did it so I should be able to too!
i think it's a good idea. especially if the kind of commune you are looking for is spiritual one. also it gives a nice balance in your mind that you have your school and the communal living like two seperated things in which you both learn alot. i lived in different communes, and in some of them i just worked and lived in, so my life at that point was the commune, i think going to college would've been great for me at that time okaaay i know what i'm talking about here, i dunno if you get it too it seems that i'm not all that good with words today lol but i think it's a good idea. like two worlds. you can step out of the being constantly in college-vibe and out of the being constantly with the commune-vibe. and i think if you find that right commune you can make an arrangement of when you do your things there, and when you need your time for college. basically i'm saying: go for it!
Also if you are studying something in college or uni that will teach you skills of benefit to the commune then they would probably be very receptive to it.
Sweet.....because I was thinking about going into environmental studies (or journalism, it's a tossup really) so I was thinking I could find one that grows their own food and stuff.
i don't live in a commune, per se, but we rent a house with multiple people who all help out and such....i'm going to college and its working out just fine. good luck!
