i can't afford fresh seaweed like i'd like to. the only place i can find fresh (and by fresh i actually mean defrosted, apparently!) seaweed is the whole foods market, and their seaweed is $15/lb. i buy just a little at a time. it is so delicious! i've tried buying all different kinds of dried sea veg's and reconstituting them, but it's really not the same. lots of japanese restaurants have seaweed salad, but i've always found it to be full of colors, sweeteners, and additives. (WHY?!!)

i also know seaweed is very healthy for me. but i just can't afford this little addiction! anyone got suggestions?

Seaweed??? Like kelp? What do you eat it in/on? How do you prepare it? Does it taste kind of like... uh... okay, you tell me what it tastes like, I've got no imagination.

If it's that yummy, and that expensive, I'd get it once a month to treat myself. Or find something you can mix it with, to make it stretch farther. Sorry I can't be more help, but this is completely new to me.
    love,

Seaweed too, best thing is to steam it, add a little extra virgin olive oil too.
It can be incorporated into Lasagne, the uses are endless, all you need is a little imagination, but one word of warning, and a doctor will tell you this, but double check if you like.....
If you suffer from an over-active thyroid you are not supposed to consume large amounts of iodine, and kelp is full of it, so just err on the side of caution, and seek medical advice.

interesting. i'm skinny, but i'm not THAT skinny, to think i've got an overactive thyroid!
the seaweed i'm referring to is a mix, and the key is, it's FRESH. well, not dried, at least. the dried seaweed tastes like the sea, in that fishy, borderline nasty way. however, fresh seaweed is crunchy and a little salty, and just delicious! trust me; try it for yourself! it's just that lots of the fresh salads have nasty additives. the fresh seaweed is a mixture of kelp, agar, and some others with which i am not familiar.
yea, it really is good! if anyone lives near a whole foods, they sell little containers in the sushi department.

I've never had sea weed, but I've always wanted to try it hmm.... If I try it, and become addicted, I'm blaming you :)

I once ate seaweed I found on a beach. I took it home and washed it though.

It's not something I plan to do again.

Stick to buying it from a store.
