If anyone could provide some advice on houseboats they have stayed in that are central and contact details for them would be much appreciated. There are loads in Jordaan but my friend said thats like 20 min's away from the centre of Amsterdam and doesnt wish to stay there.. if anyone could correct her on that would be good too...
http://www.houseboathotel.nl/ The Jordaan is not too far away from everything, btw. Very nice area as well. No problems if you have a bike but it's still easy to walk to, etc.
The Jordaan is a beautiful and a little more quiet area of Amsterdam. However it has pubs, coffeeshops, and some of the best little local places Adam has to offer. It is only 20 minutes if you are walking slowly and really is considered part of the centrum. Rent a bike and most of Amsterdam is within 10 or 15 minutes.
