1. The Hipforums announces it first ever fundraiser. After nearly 30 years online, we must ask our members and guests to help support the website. Thanks to years of ongoing financial support of our members, advertisers and volunteer admin staff, we have been able to keep the forums alive.

Now we must ask for help as available funds have all been used for our Internet server and other fees.

So please donate any amount to our PayPal account donate@Hipforum.com to keep the site going. If we can get enough for a few months fees, we won't need to nag you again!

My name is Shanna. I'm 22 years old from Nova Scotia. I study conservation biology and animal behavior at Acadia University. Other than biology my passion is music. My favorite band of all time is Phish. I cried twice when they broke up. I also dig Zeppelin a whole lot.

    This is me:

One thing that bothers me about younger hippies is that "hip" increasingly stands for "hipocrite". I mean, the mainstream has absorbed all of the hippie style with none of the hippie substance. The other day I was harassing my friend when he took the elevator and not the stairs for his needless waste of energy. He responded by saying, quite genuinely might I add, "Hey, I'm an environmentalist, I wear sandles and dreads!" oh my.

I'm looking for some good chats and hopefully to make a few pals!

    Welcome!

It's cool to hear some people still have the hippie spirit calling us. I think of it more as a religion or culture, than a "stereotype". Like that it's not just the clothes, but it's the attitude toward mankind and the environment, and everyone makes mistakes, so there can't be a divine one of us.

I'd say more on the subject, but it might not make sense.
