I've used glasses since I was 10, and I'm searching for a way to correct my vision without surgery or any of those freaky treatments...
A woman told me once that by staring at the sun during sunrise and sun set, that my vision would get better. I haven't tried it though...

Does anyone know if that works, or if there is any other way to improve my vision naturally?

I've read about eye exercises that help improve the vision but the programs are expensive...

    anyway, I'll keep on searchin...

It's not that I don't like wearing glasses cause I think the ones I have now look great, but every day when I open my eyes I see that blur... I would like to open them and see my boys face clearly... hehe ;)

ive heard of the sun thing too but i think thats just an old wives tale. really, it makes you go blind. so definitly dont try that :/. glasses are beautiful. unless you are REALLY anti-contacts, id try those, becuase they really arent as bad as the avarage glasses wear-er would think. though they are a daily hassle to care for, i looooooove my contacts.

  5. When I first had a vision problem I read a whole book on alternative eye therapies called:

"Take off your glasses and see"

I tried all kinds of methods, if anything they made my eyes sore and tired and they didn't improve my vision at all. So finally i put my glasses on and I have been reading and working happily ever since. No more headaches.

Eye exercises make sense if you use them properly, but don't buy into the quacky idea that you can heal your vision entirely. The best optometerists are the ones who use a compromise between the alternative and more traditional methods.

As for the sun method, it won't improve your vision as far as distance or perception goes, but sitting out at sunrise or sunset will help your eyes get used to bright light and will help you feel at ease with yourself. Its probably a good thing to do if you spend a lot of time indoors.

I wouldn't stare at the sun at any time of day. It can and will do eye damage.

I had to have eye exercises as a child, as I had a "lazy eye" and it was horrible, and it may have well started my migraines, as I would get a migraine every time I had to go to the doctor, twice a week for the exercises and even when we did them at home. Years later I read that the exercises I was given were basically useless. Turns out my problem was neurological and not only did I not need the exersises, I didn't even need glasses, then.

I don't think you have control over the shape of your eyeball (which is often what determines how you see) so, if you can't see well, glasses or contacts (or once your prescription stops changing, LASIK surgery) is the best way to go.

My dh wore glasses almost all his life. He was nearly legally blind (20/800) and when his prescription stopped changing, I finally talked him into LASIK (he wanted to, he hated his glasses, but he never gets sick and had never had surgery and was really scared, so I promised him I would be there the entire time) He had the procedure, and his vision is 20/35 in one eye and 20/10 (better than normal) in the other. He won't need glasses unless he gets farsighted.

    Good to hear Bear's improvement.
I have promised my son we'd look into it for graduation in four years.

    how is his depth perception?

Actually, if you stare at the sun for a few seconds starting out, right before sunset...and slowly increase the time you do it, you can improve your eyesight and get nutrients to live...I know it sounds crazy. I"ve read into it a little and I thought maybe I'd try it starting this summer.

  10. Don't buy into it too much. I am very much into alternative therapies, but this stuff is super-quack.

It will definitely help get your eyes used to light, which is important in a society where we spend a lot of time indoors. It will also give you vitamin E, as well as a deep sense of calm (who doesn't feel relaxed at sunset). But I am skeptical about anything else.
