http://www.breitbart.com/news/2006/02/03/D8FHR5I00.html "No Toking" signs are being stolen in Amsterdam as soon as they are installed. See above link. As a solution, the city is selling these signs almost at cost. Can't think anyone on these forums stealing these signs. How would you get them through American customs? Link for the City signs. Caution, its in Dutch. http://www.baarsjes.amsterdam.nl/asp/get.asp?xdl=../views/baarsjes/xdl/Page&SitIdt=00000002&VarIdt=00000001&ItmIdt=00000001
damn, 90 euros a pop, too expensive for kitsch. And i don't think it's only americans who are stealing shit, y'ken we aren't all the devil right? Anywhos, the signs really don't look like a 'no toking sign', hell, they kind of look like you are supposed to toke there...
a dutch friend of mine said that the word they use in dutch for "toking" is "blowing". so the signs REALLY say "no blowing" but it means no toking. and i think it´s a pretty obvious sign that you´re not supposed to toke there. either way, it´s not hard to just smoke in coffeeshops or away from other people.
It's someone holding a joint, surrounded by a red circle, if it were a circle with a line through it then you would be able to better understand.
Given the reputation of their "Red Light" district, "No Blowing" could have a duel meaning. In which case, a picture within a circle and a red line running through the middle of it would remove all doubt.
