Anti-Depressants

I take them because of a problem i have but my question is (for the ones who take them or ever did), if u miss one day what happens?

i forgot to take today's dosis, how does that affect me?

 

It affects you only as much as you believe it does. That medicine doesn't change you. It clears up the fog enough to let you see past it. You can see past it without the medicine it just takes more focus.

I've been diagnosed with social anxiety and grubling depression(eeyore syndrome). I refuse to take the meds however. It makes life a huge struggle, but with the diagnosis alone, I know what I need to overcome. I can't stop the thoughts these things make me have, however I can do my damndest to ignore them. If you forget that there is a difference between how the meds make you feel and how you normally feel, then there is no difference.

seriously, just take your next dose. as long as you don't miss a bunch in a row, you'll be ok.

and when i don't take meds i am a mess, don't care what you say about not needing them. sometimes i am a mess with them, i have bipolar, anxiety of social and generalized disorders, adhd and ocd. all a bunch of labels i know but what it boils down to is i have a lot of trouble functioning without them. so don't judge others just because you don't believe in meds for yourself chaos.

 

Whenever I missed a dose my head would get electrical shock senstations

i think everyone on this forum is fucking pmsing today. including me. wtf did i do, told the truth.

 

Just take it likw it perscribed and if you miss a day and it's harmful it will say so on the package. I don't anything will go wrong if you miss a day because they will oneday ween you off of it because you can't take it but for so long.

 

If it's an SSRI (prozac, zoloft, paxil) it works on a very slow controlled pace.

They prevent the reuptake of serotonin in your brain, meaning that it stays in your brain for a while. If you missed a day, the effects probably won't be noticable, and it's usually a few weeks before people can feel them.

If you missed your dose, wait till tommorow. You'll be alright.

 

I'm on WellButrin XL, and I have missed a day. I think that threw my whole clock off. I was crying for days and days....

 

I wasn't judging others at all. Just stating my opinion. I have trouble functioning too, but I still do my best to change without them and overlook certain things. I didn't put down anybody for taking meds did? Didn't think so. Get your facts straight before you call somebody out.

Edit: If you would've paid attention you would've seen that I said it makes life a big struggle without my meds. Man people are so self-obsorbed it's not even funny.

 

I am not depressed, and even if I was, I wouldn't take prescription anti-depressants. I don't want anything that is going to artificially alter my brain chemistry and turn me into a zombie.

There are plenty of natural alternatives that work much better than the drugs, and are much safer.

 

Dude, you need to chill too. Everyone has their opinion on this subject, and she's had twice as much esperience with the subject as you have. And so have I, I'm bipolar too.

 

Ive been diagnosed with the following by various doctors. Generalized anxiety disorder, depression, and ADD. I found the drugs therapeutic in some ways, but it wasnt worth dealing with the overall effects of the drugs. I stopped taking adderall and effexor in august, and it sucked for awhile. Now I am centered again, and am focusing on teaching my mind ways to deal with those problems instead of being doped up on pharms 24/7. Its my personal choice, and I feel that its working and things will just be fine without antidepressants. But I definitely understand those that need them.

 

I don't care if you're part martian. I wasn't judging anybody for taking meds. Simply stated that I struggle because I refuse to take them, and I gave my opinion on them. She didn't need to single me out and make me out to be an ass. I need to chill? Then you need to mind your own fucking business.

Call me what you want, your wife was in the wrong before I said anything to her. I said nothing to offend in my original post and she wanted to make an unneeded point to me. Then when I take offense you want to get involved and play the knight in shining armor and come to her defense when really I didn't even say anything to attack her. Just told her to pay attention before she criticises somebody. Yeah... that was soooo harsh of me.... I really should chill out.... Be real.
