So because they have one more thing to be picked on about or judged for, their life is harder? That's such bullshit. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying some homosexuals don't have it extremely rough, but as whole you'll never convince me that I have an easier life than every homosexual in America because I like pussy and they don't.

well you don't have that working against you and they do, its a fact...no one gets beat up for being straight, no parents disown their kids for being straight etc.

You make it sound like all gay people get beat up and are disowned by their parents.

umm, bullshit. Sorry, but if your manager/HR person is homophobic, a person who is gay is going to be discriminated against. Ditto if the person was black and had a racist manager, it's not a good mix

what I don't get is, why wouldn't it be ok to be gay?

I mean... two people of the same gender falling in love is going to have just as much impact on your life as two people of opposite genders falling in love, when neither person is you - very little impact. Who cares? Let people be who they are as long as it harms none

not ALL, come on now. A straight person never does though, and its certainly not uncommon for a gay person.

depends... the people who are flamboyant tend to stand out. And if someone asks you about who you're dating, or who you're interested in as an attempt at office conversation, it's a little awkward. I didn't tell any of my coworkers my last crush was female because I didn't think most would accept it too terribly well and I didn't want it to stand in the way of me continuing to work there.

You didn't tell them. See that's the key right there. You didn't want to find out how they'd react so you didn't put it out there, and the problem was avoided. Besides the people that are flamboyant are given away most by their attire. Dress professional and it wont be a problem. I mean who goes to an interview in blue sparkling pants and a belly shirt anyway? I don't even know girls that would go to a serious interview in that fashion.

but the point is, I shouldn't ahve to avoid telling them who I'm interested in just because of the person's gender. It shouldn't matter

and I don't mean flamboyant dress, I mean flamboyant personality. The sort of stereotypical gay man type flamboyant, with lisp and feminine gestures. They tend to stick out quite badly, and the only way to hide that would be to not be themselves. There shouldn't be any reason to hide who you are just because you prefer one gender that happens to be your own, it's ridiculous

I'm not saying it should, but I am saying if you know it will matter, why divulge it? My family is borderline racist. Whenever I date a black girl I know they wont like it. I know they'll have something to say and lectures to give etc. If I didn't want to hear them or deal with them I wouldn't tell them. By choosing to tell them, however, I am forced to deal with the consequences. I'm not saying gay people should have to worry about hiding who they are or that it is right. What I am saying is: this is the world we live in. We're all left with difficult personal choices to make that we shouldn't have to. In this instance they make the choice to tell people who they are and therefore should accept the circumstances of that choice, or they decide that even though it is unjust they will hide it. Choice and sacrifice are what life is all about.

That's a pretty stereotypical situation. My friend Lamar acts just like that and he's definitely not gay. When I confirm his sales at work the customers always say to me, "That nice lady I just spoke with said"...... the entire place asks me if he's gay because he "acts like it". Not by hitting on guys, but with his demeanor. The actual gay guy at my job is a supervisor who has refered to people as "closet queers", "dirty dykes", and other gay references. I promise you if I put Lamar and Dave side by side, you'd pick Lamar as the gay one every day of the week.

The thing is, today, most companies are actually encouraged to hire people that are openly gay, because it gives the company a "good image" in regard to so-called "diversity," which is now stressed more than ever.

I am sure there are some people that are hateful of gays, as there are people hateful of women, blacks, cripples, etc. literally anywhere you go.

For the most part, by in large, today's corporate world is extremely gay-friendly. I honestly believe that a person who is openly gay has a much higher likelihood of being promoted over their straight counterparts. I have witnessed this firsthand, as have many people I know.

No that's not rough, rough is a Lady with Mexican, Indian, African American, and Asian Heritage that looks Like a Homosexual White Dude. By the way she lives in Watts L.A. with her White Surpremist boyfriend that's part Polynesian and part Arab. Now that's rough but she'll make it after all.

You know I don't care for christians either. I hate those flamboyant christians who are always trying to convert you. I would just as soon I didn't have to seem, hear or smell them. But, I would never suggest that you take down all those steeples and make it so you have to put your bible in a paper bag while your riding the bus. That would not only be mean but thankfully the U.S. Constitution protects us from that kind of mean spirited discrimination. Ironically, those same so-called christians are trying to use the U.S. Constitution to discriminate against gays.

I had a gay friend who worked for a top company, his new boss was a Bible thumper who made a point to everyday remind him that he was going to burn in hell. H.R. did nothing to prevent the harassment. He was passed up for promotions and transfers that everyone he worked with knew he deserved. He finally quit. So, even when they have those policies that doesn't mean jack shit. It sounds like you're jealous of the fact that your boss is gay and you hate gays.

If gay discrimination weren't as bad or worse as black -why did congress and the president work so hard to fire a Clinton appointed ambassador just because he was gay? And yet we have a black Secretary of State, the second one by the way. Now, suppose we had a Gay Secretary of State, what's the possibility that they would be courting him to be a 2008 Republican Presidential Candidate, like they are doing with Condoleezza Rice?

You know that gays are discriminated against; your comments alone prove the hatred and discrimination that gay folks face everyday. But you want to pretend that you don't hate gays by saying the discrimination doesn't exist. Is anybody buying that pathetic excuse?

A lot of interracial couples hide it from their racist parents. And alot of gay people are in the closet. What's your point? You won't beat up interracial couples as long as you don't have to see them in public and you won't hate your kid as long as he marries a woman and keeps his orientation a secret? That's nutty.

Why does any of this matter to anyone? That's the important question.
