what is your favorite movie by Joel and ethan Coen? thematicly, i think they are the best observers of what provoques and constitutes what can be named "stupidity" or "unexpected irony of usual life", wherever it may come from. Oversmoking (big lebowski) , business rules (the hudsucker proxy), babies (raising arizona), studio rules (barton fink), natural (fargo), greed (ladykillers), pride ( o'brother), marriage (intolerable cruelty)... my favorite is O'brother, for the energy. I like very mutch the hudsucker proxy and barton fink too. what do you think????
I had to go with Big Lebowski, but I saw Rasing Arizona for the first time yesterday, haha brilliant! I thought it was funnyer than Big Lebowski
Yeah Lebowski and Barton would have to be my Favourites though I have loved them all. But at the risk of being publicly humiliated.... I didn't really like Fargo *runs away terrified of swift retribution*
Just my vote for Fargo then? An hilarious depiction of incompetence / ineptitude IMO. Still.. each to their own.
Watching Raising Arizona for the fifth time was just as entertaining as the first time. There are so many layers of subtle humor. "Son, you got a panty on your head." I love all the Coen Brother's work. Fargo blows me away and is probably #2. Somehow I did not get into the Big Lebowski so much.
I voted big lebowski for no reason other than it completely rocks. I'm going to go against the grain and say I really liked intolerable cruelty. It was a fucking classic...so underrated. George Clooney is up there with the greats in playing the "middle age crisis" guy. I think hes underrated too, though hes been in some awful movies.
