Where could someone purchase small amounts of ethanol? I am not asking for a specific location just where in general can it be purchased. Can I get it at a drug store, hardware store, etc.. Do I need to go to a lab equipment supplier? I am interested in using it to dilute and more accurately measure small amounts of chemicals but I don’t really want to say that if asked, so what are some legitimate uses for it? Thanks for the information.
I personally like to drink it from a source called everclear..... Ethanol is just a scientific way of saying booze!! Drink up!!
I used to buy small bottles of 99% ethanol in drug store. Needed it for cleanin my non-optical mouse at times I used to play quake 3 before good optical mice hit the market ;-)
I try not to be mean or rude here because I respect everyone's opinions but man if you don't know how to get ethanol maybe you shouldn't be trying to make stuff. go to the library and get some basic books on chemistry...high school or Jr. high level. Learn about the stuff you plan on working with so that you don't get hurt or poisoned...play safe and play smart.
He isn't trying to make anything through chemistry.. He is making a RC solution for more acurate dosing.
Btw I think not every RC goes well with alcohol. I mean some of them are not soluble and some might even degrade in potency!
^^^Which ones are you refering to? Everyone I've tried dissolves fine. The 4-oh stuff turns black in an alcohol, but this doesn't seem to affect potency, at least in the short term. I always found those little 50ml bottles of everclear perfect for this purpose, before I bought mg scales. Don't just assume the bag weighs what it's supposed to, RC companies often go over/under by quite alot. At least get one of those little cheapy plastic scales to check the total weight
