thank you lying_in_a_field the problem i have, is if i cannot accept it at its word, as you have said that errors have been made in translation, so why would i believe that God has full control over it, he would not let such problems get in, but its because we have free will and an ego it is not perfect, if it was God would have wrote it perfect once himself. i cannot accept the Bible itself telling me it is perfect. it may have a lot of truths, and it may help in life, but more than not i see the message being raped and used for the wrong reason. Use God and his Sprit, that is who i trust peacex
The first copies were perfect and were written without error, and most of the errors that we find today are errors which donot involve the substance of the message. The majority text which involves thousands or manuscrips are in agreement, even though they were written in numerous countries around the world. Without the Bible, your belief in God is left to you own imagination. That may be fun, but it does not establish the truth. The fact is, you are doing what so many people have done. Simply deny Scripture, and create your own God. The Bible stated this would happen, it tells us the time will come, when men will not endure sound doctrine, but will turn away from the doctrine of the truth and believe in fables. The Bible is telling you the truth, the stories of the past are being verified. The prophecies of Christ have been fulfilled, and we can see this from the Dead Sea Scrolls. Christ soon return can be seen by the fact that the Jews have returned to Israel, they have retaken Jerusalem, the East Gate is still sealed waiting for the Prince to come. Europe is coming together as a nation, The Islamics are working towards the destruction of Israel. America, has fulfilled the prophecies of the end time Babylon. China in the 1960s boasted that they could raise up an army of 200 million men, the same number the Book of Revelation speaks of. Russia will join the Islamics, and soon will take her place in the prophecies to come. The Bible is not a Book you want to ignore. Jesus said those who listen to Him, He will consider wise men, but those who would not, will be like those who built their homes on the sand, and when the storms came their homes were washed away, and great was the fall of them. The Bible is not a Book that has some truth, it is a Book that speaks nothing but the truth. The reason people hate the Bible, is because it requires you to take a stand. Most people could careless about what Jesus did on the cross. Yet the Bible tells us that without Jesus Christ, there is no chance of Heaven. You can make up what ever kind God you want, but Jesus Christ clearly stated, "NO MAN COMES UNTO THE FATHER BUT BY ME." The God of the Bible is not impressed with numbers, for if He was, he would of destroyed Noah, and spared the world. God is looking for those who will follow Him, the Bible tell us that most will not. Jesus said, he who loves me, will follow me. We all make are choices in this world, and Scripture tells us, there are no second chances.
I know people personally whose NDE included seeing things that they should not have seen that day, if they did not leave their body. Friends were quite affected by that puzzle. And the NDE left the person no longer fearing death, as before. I am sure some stories are just psychologically explicable mechanisms, and some are just lies, some are just dreams, but some of them are very hard to dismiss. When the NDE tells of events that occured outside of that room that day, in detail, with no doubt in there voice, and they are correct about them, that tells me that something's up. Sensationalism is the last thing my friends grandma sought by relating her NDE. I agree that the afterlife is unknown, but I am comfortable with the belief that there is one.
Presumptive supposition & deceitful manipulation ............. yet again. Unless of course you have verifiable proof that The first copies were perfect and were written without error
How do you know? Have you spoken to people first-hand who claim to have had such an experience? Or are you just speculating
This thread was supposed to be fun. I guess i'll just have to mosy on back to the random thoughts forum and be an idiot there.
if i'm going to hell, that's cool. it'll be a nice challenge to see if i can be happy there. because you know, i'll still have my free will. but seriously... i believe in things like the bible code, and believe that jesus died on the cross because he WANTED to, and that there is an afterlife. i believe there is god, but i'm not sure if there are hundreds of gods walking among us, if it's one singular perfect being, a spirit that is embedded in all of us at the same time, or something else i can't understand. but, i don't believe anyone should try to live their life exactly how the bible tells them. it would probably be beneficial to read it, but honestly... hold your own experience with higher significance than what anyone or anything else tells you. if you read the bible and disagree with something in it, don't feel bad about yourself or think you're doing something wrong. just ask yourself where your opinion originated from. if it came from something someone said to you a long time ago, weigh it against what you're reading. if it came from your own experience, from trial and error, from putting it into practice and getting good results, you should probably hang onto it. what we believed two hundred years ago is very different than what we believe now. we have a way of constantly proving ourselves and history wrong. coming up with new answers. the bible was definately edited, either to manipulate or to keep from offending people. or for any other reason... i wouldn't know, i wasn't there. but you can be sure it's not exactly as it was. do you think god died after the bible was finished? god is just as alive now as he/she/it was then, and the truth you find for yourself is just as valid as the truth jesus found. every person is looking for their truth. that's what life is for. people invest their entire being into this truth, so how can you not respect it? they have spent their WHOLE LIVES developing their morals and beliefs, just like you've spent your whole life developing yours. so understand how hard they've worked, and let them enjoy what they've found. understand how hard YOU have worked, and know that everything you have thought is important and can very well be everything you need. oh boy... this post is cheesy... peace, kids <3
Well Jesus tells us that the world will always be learning, but they will never come to the knowledge of the truth. Because the truth that saves one soul, will only be found in Jesus Christ. And the Bible tells us, the world wants nothing to do with that name. And Jesus asked the question. "How will they neglect, so great a salvation?"
Just one problem, being a Christian is not about feeling guilty for your sin. It's about knowing your sin is forgiven. The post made me laugh, though.
Ya know, even though I am a "Christian" so to speak, I don't really get the churchs' obsessions with sin. I try and listen to Jesus, and he didn't really talk much about sin. Granted he mentioned it now and again but it was fairly minor part of his message. I would like to know where the churches got it from, because they sure didn't get the idea from Jesus.
