Has anyone seen the art of Alex Gray? My friends and I can look at his art for hours! Here's one of his Mirrors:
I like the second one a lot, the first one is just seeing what I see, while the one in your profile carries emotions and inner truth about creating a image, much better to me than the one above of Alex Grey. To me art is just like computers and humans, art can communicate just as a computer, but it can also talk like a human. The first one is a computer the second image a human.
alex greay is a fuckin genius. check out his church of sacred mirrors in nyc. he paints live with the disco biscuits and STS9 sometimes. hes beyond our rhelm.
do a little research before you slam one of the greatest interdimensional painters. those are PAINTINGS. www.alexgrey.net knowledge.
To Skhippie- I'm really glad that you like the second picture! I've never taken art classes or anything- I just felt inspired at the moment. It's something that I created while watching the sunrise one morning. There is a lot of meaning behind it stemming from a trip. As for Alex Gray, he made this and many other paintings after an extended acid trip. I can see how you might think that it was computer-generated, but now you know and I hope that you will take a closer look at these incredible paintings! To kozmikbunny- I really want to see the Sacred Mirrors in New York. My friend was fortunate enough to go and she said that it was incredible! He really is beyond our realm!
Both are painted by humans. Just because it isn't about only emotions doesn't make it a computer. Being able to paint just what you see is just as valid as painting what you feel. A lot of artists down his stuff as 'illustration' just because he can draw well and takes the time to bring his paintings to a high level of realism.
isn't he the dude that does a lot of tool's art? i saw a tool show at radio city music hall, and maynard said he wanted to thank him, and pointed him out in the audience. it was pretty cool. they had big painted banners that i believe they said grey did.
Sorry Kozmik, I know his work, Ive been looking again on your advice, and its just not my cup of tea. His art is good, good technique, well done, PAINTING just like you said, probably the best of his class, but I dont feel connected to it. And why? maybe its to clean for me, or to much heavenly, untouchable. Aldo I like the work he did as a boy, its strange most artists are better as a kid then when they are adults.
The first work I saw that Gray did was the one of The Kiss. I sat looking at for a loooong loooong time. Gray is so deeply and intimately connected to himself.
Aldo I dont really like his painting like I said, I found this stuff about his performances on the site, which I really enjoyed. Their great! (click on the image to see the performance trough a pop-up)
Has anyone got a large version of cosmic christ they can send me? This is the biggest i can find, but you can't see the little pictures in it.
