I hope it's okay to post about this. I came across The Hip Forums while I was doing a search for 60's related books. I thought some of you may be interested in this. I belong to a book trading site. How it works is you list 9 or more books that you no longer need or want. You will be given 3 credits for doing that. With those credits you can search the site and request 3 books of your choice with those credits. The person that has the book will send it to you. When someone requests a book that you have listed you send it to them. The books are sent by media mail so for most average sized paperbacks it only costs $1.59 to mail the book. Hardcovers cost a little more since they are heavier. The only cost that is involved is the cost when mailing a book. Every time you send a book to someone you get another credit as soon as the person receives it and marks that it has been received. You don't have to relist the books if you don't want to. A lot of people do relist the books because they only like to read it once but there others (like myself) who enjoy keeping the book for future reference. Once you receive the book it's yours to do what you want with. It's a really great site. I have been a member there since July. I have saved so much money. It's definitely a lot cheaper than going into a book store and having to buy the books bran new. Also I have been able to find a lot of obscure and out of print books at this site. They have a discussion forum as well if you like chatting to others. If you would like to join you can click on the link below......... Join our club and swap paperback books for FREE - PaperBackSwap.com
And then there's bookcrossing..... http://www.bookcrossing.com/hunt and the wishlist site: http://cliff1976.com/bc/bcStats.asp List the books you want on there, and I guarantee sooner or later someone will grant your wish and send you a book you want - for free! It does work. I've had 18 of my wishes granted in less than 2 years, and it hasn't cost me a cent.
Thanks for posting those links. I also belong to bookcrossing but I don't really care for the way it works. It's not really a swap site like paper back swap is. It works a little different. I am going to check out the second link that you posted. Thanks again!
