she's gotten into this habit of taking the phone off the hook when she goes to bed. Meaning, the phone in my room doesn't work either, and I can't go into her room to hang it up either. ARG What if someone was trying to get an important call through, or I needed to use the phone before she got up (and before I left, since I usually leave the house for class before she gets up since she works a late shift)

ARRRRG, just unplug your phone from the freakin jack if it bugs you that much, that way I can at least use it when I need to. *grumbles*

my mother has been doing that in our house for quite the time now. the thing is, i have told her several times that it can be dangerous - what if, whatever reason someone breaks in or something and we need to call 911 but the phone is off the hook and useless? does 911 still work in that case?

definely talk to her about it..

My mother used to do that too. It drove me nuts. I would try calling her and it would automatically forward to her voice mail, which she rarely ever checked anyhow.

She keeps her phone on all of the time now, but rarely answers it.

*grumbles* I tried talking to her about it, and she just talked about how she's sick n such right now. *sigh* I mean, it's an understandable measure since her friends inevitably call while she's asleep, but... unplugging the phone jack makes the most sense to me, because then I can use the phone when I need to. I mean, I pay into the phone bill too

ah well, no one is perfect, y ajust gotta get used to peoples quirks sometimes I guess
